HOF Ceremony:
Jerry Lawler was the emcee. Killer video on the Horsemen. Dusty Rhodes is the presenter. Nice shot of Dustin Rhodes and Rey Mysterio. People clearly came to see Flair. Good to see Barry Windham there. Standing ovation for Arn. Just wish they were inducted sooner.
Mike Tyson inducted into the celebrity wing. HHH and HBK are presenters. Oh man, they had me cracking up. Classic. Oh, a good shot of Wade Barrett in the crowd. Hope he's recovering well. Tyson's family in the crowd.
A small video package of the other inductees. Rikishi and other family members accepted on behalf of the late Yokozuna. Mil Mascaras and Ron Simmons were also inducted.
Last inductee for TV was Edge. Very heartfelt and emotional speeches from Christian and Edge. Really depicted such a feel-good story coming true.

Johnny addresses the roster before the show. Wasting no time making matches. People Power! New era!
Whoa, Rock's on RAW?! How the hell did that happen? Guess he was staying for one more show. Huge ovation as usual. "Boots to Asses!" chants. Still a little dumbfounded they let him win at WM, although I'm sure it'll become clearer in the coming days and weeks. "JHG" now trending worldwide. ROFL, how much do you have to suck to get cut from the CFL? Was that "YES! YES! YES!" chants?! Epic.
Whoa, Rock's proclaiming he'll be WWE champion again. Maybe next year?
U.S. Title match next. As expected, Ziggler and Swagger team up on Santino, then both heels turn on each other later to give Santino hope. Cobra to Swagger for a Santino win!
Holy crap, Brodus Clay now has a storyline with Swagger and/or Ziggler! And Santino and the cobra are dancing. Now I've seen everything -- I think.
Yes! Lord Tensai debuts with a manager, Sakamoto. They reference that Tensai was a former WWE superstar (Albert/A-Train) that went to become a wrestling star in Japan...all true stuff. Looks like Tensai has no body hair anymore, glad to see that. Mauling headbutts rule. A very deliberate beatdown. I liked the water spit into the hand and the claw. Very simple, but effective, especially when you're dealing with such a huge man.
WWE Title match next. Punk still selling the "back injuries" from his WM match with Jericho. Henry attacks the back to no end. A LOT of "YES!" chants when Punk hits elbows or kicks. Good grief, they seriously want Daniel Bryan. Henry really looked strong in this one. Great Punk comeback with chops and kicks. Big flying elbow. Two big running knees but Punk got thrown to the outside. Countout win for Henry. Boo.
Johnny wants more competitive matches. Punk will be defending a lot. I hope this actually means we get good matches....
Oh, it's Jericho! And he wants a drink with Punk! I guess they'll have a rematch at Extreme Rules. Booze poured all over Punk. Trick alcohol bottle to the skull of Punk. And to think, a couple years ago, this woulda been majorly cheered, right R-Truth?.

I'm hoping this is the start for Miz to get back on the main event track. Or at least not in the doghouse. Getting the pin last night was the best thing to happen to him lately. Did Lawler just compare Ryder with Tim Tebow? Uh, could do better than that. Cena apparently "arrived at the arena" during this match.

That's it for wrestling. Here comes Cena to call Rock out. Clearly getting booed tonight. Cena's more serious tonight! You know, either the crowd was saying "What a loser!" or "Fuck Madusa!" Madusa (Debra Miceli) was in the state during WM but did not attend. No clue how I got that latter chant, but eh, it happens. Cena still not gonna lash out at the WWE Universe, even though the crowd is getting closer to Hammerstein levels (but not totally there, and never will).

Thoughts on Jericho's Return
Late last night, I had more time to reflect and think about Chris Jericho's return to WWE programming and how all his "1/2/12" return videos tie in with possible storylines. As of this writing, I have read virtually zero reports on the subject matter (since I've really been busy with my other endeavors). So basically, you're getting my own theories to the subject -- and any similarities with other authors is pure coincidence.
Long story short, in my opinion, Jericho looks to be setting up a feud with CM Punk -- and Y2J will ultimately play the role of his awesome heel character from the last time he was with the company.
The return videos all make sense now. Take a look at the fourth return video. The boy represents Chris Jericho, creating his own original claim (think "I am the best in the world at what I do," all his storylines, and his PG-edgy character). After Jericho left, Punk has made similar claims and done similar things ("I'm the best wrestler in the world," his PG-edgy character, etc.). Not surprisingly, the girl in the video represents CM Punk, the seemingly innocent (yet conniving) person that looks to "take the spotlight" for Jericho's "original" work.
Now let's go to the 1/2/12 RAW. The final return video played. The lights went out. After what seemed like an eternity, a jacket lit up in the familiar Jericho pose, then the music and Titantron confirmed it all. The crowd went nuts. Jericho played the enthusiastic face, basking in the glow of the crowd adulation. For a good 10 minutes, Jericho had the crowd in the palm of his hands -- without saying one word on the mic. Everyone was basically waiting for him to speak, but he never did. Instead, he walked to the back, still slapping fives with people. Some of the crowd started to turn on Jericho, yet the majority cheered.
Over the next few weeks, Jericho may continue his (mainly) silent ways, or he could even have a couple backstage run-ins with Punk, wishing him well in his WWE title match with Ziggler at the Royal Rumble. In either event, I would think it's wise to keep Jericho off the mic for a bit here.
Fast forward to the Rumble. Punk and Ziggler are apparently having another nice WWE title match. Finishes may vary, but mine goes like this: we have a ref bump. Ziggler goes for his ZigZag or the sleeper. Punk counters into the GTS. Unfortunately, no ref. I'll assume Vickie got ejected to the back (or equivalent), so Punk won't have to worry about her.
All of a sudden, Jack Swagger comes down and tries to interfere. Swagger beats Punk down for a bit. Jericho comes out and takes Swagger out. Punk is getting to his feet, and the ref is stirring. Ziggler's still out. Jericho and Punk look at each other for a little bit, then "out of nowhere," a Codebreaker to Punk! Crowd and announcers are all shocked. Jericho leaves to a chorus of boos, while Ziggler covers a fallen Punk for three to become the new WWE champ.
This sets up the long-rumored feud between Punk and Jericho, which takes place at WM and likely extends into early summer. Take this for what it's worth...it just might occur this way.

"Wrestlers You Love to Hate"
I saw this column on 411mania where columnists wrote about their top five wrestlers that they "love to hate." Unfortunately, when I read the column, it was clear that several writers misunderstood the meaning of the term "love to hate."
For purposes of this post, I will only focus on current WWE performers (not as much time to do research or expand to include TNA or other promotions). I'm also not ranking these in any order.

My Top Five (in no particular order):
Vickie Guerrero: For someone who kept out of the TV picture until her husband Eddie passed away, Vickie Guerrero has made amazing strides (both in her on-screen character and her physical appearance) over the years. She's slimmed down and has really gotten comfortable in her role as business partner and manager for guys like Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. The "Excuse Me!" catchphrase reportedly started when she legitimately forgot her lines (a stall tactic to remember them), and it transitioned into part of her "annoying" character. Her tantrums are entertaining to the point where you want something to go wrong -- or someone to offend her. At least it's that way for me. Outside the ring, she's well-respected and one of the friendliest people. Can't go wrong with this pick.
The Miz: Mike Mizanin, to me, is a natural heel. His swagger and "I told you so" attitude are...awesome (pun intended) and only when he broke from tagging with Morrison was Miz able to really shine. I was one of the many who thought Morrison would be the big star when those two broke up, but unfortunately, JoMo soured on people backstage, killing off any chance of a sustained push. Miz not only zoomed past Morrison, but also became WWE champion. He's also one of the only people I know who would win Most Improved Wrestler more than once -- and I'd give it to him in each of the last 2-3 years.
John Cena: Again, I really like John Cena as a person. He's one of the hardest workers I've ever seen and he does countless events for Make-a-Wish. I have issues with how WWE built Cena into the modern-day Hulk Hogan...the goody-two-shoes individual who the kids look up to. Sorry Cena fans, I'm an Attitude Era guy all the way, and it's the edgy faces like today's Randy Orton and CM Punk that make me smile and laugh. I really can't remember the last time the guy lost clean. I woulda fit right at home the night Cena and Punk tore the house down in Chicago (where Punk captured the gold). Cena doesn't have to go back to his rapper gimmick full-time. I just want to see more rage from Cena, a way more aggressive individual. With Randy Orton way over with the crowd and Zack Ryder's big push, this may be a good time to slowly turn Cena heel. We saw glimpses of the pressure Roddy Piper put on John during the Piper's Pit segment. It's clear that Cena would be the "heel" against Rock anyway. Will it lead to a full-time heel turn? Probably not, with all the merchandise sold. But Cena will continue to get that mixed reaction until he changes his character up.
R-Truth: When he came back to WWE and did his jingly rap down to the ring, I liked it at first because it was quite fresh and a way to get the fans more involved. Then, of course, it got old. Finally, when R-Truth turned heel (at JoMo's expense), I actually think Ron Killings improved on the mic. The whole "Little Jimmy" deal, which I thought was completely stupid at first, turned to gold with the fans. R-Truth has had countless hilarious segments, none better in my book than the "Randy! Riley! Jimmy!" skit on RAW. While Truth is currently on suspension, he'll be back and hopefully won't "get got" again.
Christian: During Christian's first run in WWE, it was mainly stuff with the Brood and a very successful tag run with his real-life best friend, Edge. He had a singles career, but it never completely took off. Christian then went to TNA, perhaps the best move of his career. He got his big push and got major experience on the main event scene. He returned to WWE and did the "Christian's peeps" thing all over again. But it took Edge's retirement to give Christian his big WWE break. It opened up a void on the Smackdown roster, so Vince McMahon finally pulled the trigger to get Christian a world title win -- which lasted all of two days. The whole deal with "one more match for the World Heavyweight Championship" against Randy Orton became Captain Charisma's catchphrase, leading to a marvelous slow heel turn. He's a natural on the mic, which is probably why he's still made appearances to end the year despite not being medically cleared to compete. He'll be back to go 100 percent in 2012.
Honorable Mention:
Cody Rhodes: Some of my first memories seeing Cody Rhodes on WWE TV featured an innocent young man standing up for his Hall of Fame father. I liked that Cody kept the Rhodes name because I felt it would help him get started on his WWE career (look what happened to Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris, folks). Of course, I was also skeptical if he could even break out of the huge shadow Dusty Rhodes left behind. It's not easy to follow in your dad's footsteps in the same business, especially when the elder Rhodes had such a legendary career. Cody basically tagged with Ted DiBiase (Jr.) for a while as "Priceless" before venturing on his own (yup, Randy Orton basically took them both out). His narcissist gimmick with the cheesy "Smoke and Mirrors" theme took some time to get used to. I won't lie, I really hated it at the start. In a nice twist of events, it was Rey's 619 to the face busting Rhodes' nose that turned out to be the best thing to happen to Cody. The "disfigured" Cody Rhodes character really took on a life of its own, and he got more comfortable on the mic. Then he ditched the protective mask and brought back the vintage IC title, which I think is one of the coolest belts ever. He has outstanding potential, and his career is still in its infancy. Cody's been praised for getting in amazing shape. Can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
Dolph Ziggler: Echoing what I've said about Cena, Dolph has become a workhorse. He's done double duty for a show on more than one occasion. Dolph also seems to be a natural heel. But oh man, I cringed at those Spirit Squad moments. At that time, it looked like Ken Doane would be the breakout star of that group. Then the squad disbanded and Nick Nemeth ("Nicky") got one of the most random names in WWE history. Seriously...they went with Dolph Ziggler?! I thought the odd name would basically be a career killer, banishing him to lifetime midcard purgatory. When Ziggler first used the sleeper to subdue big men like Kane, I thought..."A sleeper?! Really?!" The sleeper as a submission move sounds so last generation -- and the explosion of UFC has exacerbated how prehistoric the "traditional sleeper hold" really is nowadays. However, Ziggler flourished with the new move and developed an impressive moveset. He's delivered countless main-event caliber matches, developed an even more athletic physique, and is now on the cusp of main event status (yes, he does have a World Heavyweight Title win, but I don't really count it because it was so short). Aligning with Vickie Guerrero really sent Ziggler's stock soaring. I'm thinking 2012 will be the year he breaks through the glass ceiling permanently.

4/26/11 Supplemental Draft
Quick thoughts on each Supplemental Draft pick:
Daniel Bryan to Smackdown: Love the move here. DB was basically getting lost in the shuffle since losing his United States championship, and his short stint in APPLE was just horrible. I hope he gets a fresh start to showcase what he can do on Smackdown. Perhaps an IC run could occur?
Jack Swagger to RAW: A logical move, considering he had been training Michael Cole in Cole's feud with Jerry Lawler (a RAW talent). Not sure if Swagger will be pushed despite the brand change, but at least the move is official now.
Great Khali and Ranjin Singh to Smackdown: I guess they wanted to make sure Big Show and Khali are kept on different brands, so now Khali can have bad matches and at least attempt to entertain on the blue brand.
Usos to Smackdown: At least they are being kept together (or so it seems). Doesn't necessarily mean they will be getting more TV time or a shot at the tag titles, but we'll see.
Kelly Kelly to RAW: Sounds good to me. KK gets a nice reaction from the crowd (at least compared to most other divas) and I can definitely see her working well with the RAW heel divas and generate fresh feuds.
JTG to RAW: The guy is still on WWE TV? Yeah, I don't count NXT. Ever since Cryme Tyme broke up, he's really been hardly used. I would seriously "future endeavor" him at this point.
Alicia Fox to Smackdown: Not sure how she benefits from this. She's not a TV regular, but maybe things will change with the move to the blue brand. No guarantee at a Divas championship run either.
William Regal to Smackdown: Not really much impact here, but maybe he can do hilarious backstage skits on the blue brand while still doing NXT commentary.
Yoshi Tatsu to Smackdown: Um, sure. Can't see Yoshi as anything more than a midcarder right now anyway. I still envy him for getting to work a storyline with Maryse.
Drew McIntyre to RAW: Good move. McIntyre got lost in the Smackdown shuffle and needed some sort of a fresh start. Perhaps a United States title run could occur in the future.
Natalya to Smackdown: Again, with the case of divas, it's generally hard to tell if the brand move will benefit that person. Not sure how fresh the feuds will be on Smackdown but we'll see.
Curt Hawkins to RAW: Not really caring here. Unless he impresses me soon, I'd "future endavor" this guy.
Chris Masters to RAW: Now he can entertain with his pecs on the red brand!
Kofi Kingston to RAW: Love the move. Could lead to fresh feuds, but I want that attitude to come out like it did against Orton a year or so ago. That will push him to really being a star.
Ted DiBiase to Smackdown: Good move. He was basically jobbing the last few months on the red brand.
Tyson Kidd to Smackdown: Good move for a talented performer. But will this translate to a push?
Tamina to Smackdown: So I guess this breaks her and Santino up. Now maybe we'll actually see Tamina wrestle. Or do I want to see that?
Tyler Reks to RAW: Hmm, sure, I guess. Now we get to see the Burning Hammer on RAW -- maybe.
Alex Riley to Smackdown: A-Ri finally gets separated from Miz. Did he learn anything from Miz besides knowing how to handle a briefcase?
Beth Phoenix to RAW: This was pretty much leaked from a few days ago when WWE.com had Beth's profile under the RAW brand listings (or at least the URL was changed to reflect that anyway). I liked Beth more as a heel, but a feud with Kharma (the former Awesome Kong) would be neat to see if done right.
Sheamus to Smackdown: Does this mean Sheamus loses his U.S. title soon, or will it be Wade Barrett losing his IC belt? It might be the latter. I like this move...it should give Sheamus some new feuds.
Daniel Bryan to Smackdown: Love the move here. DB was basically getting lost in the shuffle since losing his United States championship, and his short stint in APPLE was just horrible. I hope he gets a fresh start to showcase what he can do on Smackdown. Perhaps an IC run could occur?
Jack Swagger to RAW: A logical move, considering he had been training Michael Cole in Cole's feud with Jerry Lawler (a RAW talent). Not sure if Swagger will be pushed despite the brand change, but at least the move is official now.
Great Khali and Ranjin Singh to Smackdown: I guess they wanted to make sure Big Show and Khali are kept on different brands, so now Khali can have bad matches and at least attempt to entertain on the blue brand.
Usos to Smackdown: At least they are being kept together (or so it seems). Doesn't necessarily mean they will be getting more TV time or a shot at the tag titles, but we'll see.
Kelly Kelly to RAW: Sounds good to me. KK gets a nice reaction from the crowd (at least compared to most other divas) and I can definitely see her working well with the RAW heel divas and generate fresh feuds.
JTG to RAW: The guy is still on WWE TV? Yeah, I don't count NXT. Ever since Cryme Tyme broke up, he's really been hardly used. I would seriously "future endeavor" him at this point.
Alicia Fox to Smackdown: Not sure how she benefits from this. She's not a TV regular, but maybe things will change with the move to the blue brand. No guarantee at a Divas championship run either.
William Regal to Smackdown: Not really much impact here, but maybe he can do hilarious backstage skits on the blue brand while still doing NXT commentary.
Yoshi Tatsu to Smackdown: Um, sure. Can't see Yoshi as anything more than a midcarder right now anyway. I still envy him for getting to work a storyline with Maryse.

Who fills the void?
John Canton has put up a nice article regarding who are the more likely candidates to replace Edge as the top face on Smackdown. You can view the article here:

Here's my take on several candidates:

John Cena: First of all, Cena will be on RAW for a while, at least the foreseeable future. It's also unlikely he's turning heel, since he moves so much merchandise. Basically, Vince gave Cena the ball and Cena ran with it. Cena is a RAW lifer right now.
Randy Orton: I would love for Orton to move to Smackdown. Otherwise, he's basically RAW's #2 face. His feud with New Nexus has basically died off (I wish Punk and his cronies had more momentum in that feud). Orton is way over with the crowd, and I'd like for him to continue in his main event role. A very good choice here, perhaps the most ideal right now.
Triple H/Undertaker: Both men are winding their careers down and will not be on TV each week. Not going to happen -- or if it does, Vince is not a smart man. I feel the new face of Smackdown needs to be younger and able to run as the top guy for at least the next few years.
Christian: Probably the sentimental choice, since he and Edge are real-life best friends and it's been well-documented on WWE programming. Extreme Rules may very well be Christian's best chance to capture the World Heavyweight Championship, if really only due to Edge's retirement. But much like HHH, Taker, and even Chris Jericho (see right below), Christian is also past his mid-30s (turning 38 in November) and Vince has not been too high on him all this time. While wrestlers have obviously wrestled amazing matches well into their mid-40s (see Shawn Michaels and Undertaker as examples), the guys like HBK and Taker were main eventers for years before hitting age 40. So it makes me wonder: is it too late for Christian to get a legit chance as a main eventer in WWE? Hopefully not.
Chris Jericho: I read a report where Jericho may be back in WWE after his run on "Dancing with the Stars" is over. Obviously, with his excellent mic work and in-ring abilities, he can put anyone over (face or heel) and is a huge asset to the company. Another great choice for Smackdown, if available. The only problem I may have is how long Jericho has left on a wrestling career. He does take some time off -- which is not a bad thing -- but again, I would prefer a younger star to become the face of Smackdown, much like how the likes of Cena, Orton, and Miz are on RAW.
Kofi Kingston: First of all, he's already on Smackdown. Second, he has the great athleticism that fans love to "ooh" and "ahh" about. The problem comes with mic skills and any sense of attitude he can bring that will complete the package. Basically, Kofi is a good pick, but I think he just needs that fire he had when he briefly feuded with Randy Orton a year or so ago.
John Morrison: There's no denying Morrison's athleticism. I really like the Parkour moves he uses; they are interesting and make him stand out from the rest of the roster. Unfortunately, there are apparently one too many negative reports stemming from the locker room (usually involving him and Melina), and Vince is also rumored to not be very high on him right now. I would love for Morrison to also hit Starship Pain better, but that can be easily fixed. Morrison back to Smackdown would be great for a fresh start again.
Alberto Del Rio: Not going to be a main eventer as a face. He'll likely win the World Heavyweight Championship and hopefully have a good run as a heel champion. (Basically, I just threw his name on here because he is a rising star and somehow I do see him as a face in the future.)
The Miz: I like his work on RAW as the top heel. Miz has earned his spot and really done an awesome job (pun sorta intended). He's not going to Smackdown.
Rey Mysterio: His work is still great despite all the knee injuries. And of course, he really moves merchandise with the Mysterio masks and his ties with the Latino community/lucha style. Rey technically is still one of the top faces on Smackdown already, but his best matches are definitely behind him. It's time to push younger talent, and Rey is best suited for that #2 face role right now.
Sin Cara: WWE has really marketed Sin Cara to no end, announcing press conferences, showing impressive videos to hype the debut, and doing some fancy trampoline entrance into the ring. I really would have hoped WWE put Sin Cara on Smackdown just because Smackdown is more wrestling-oriented and that's obviously where his strengths lie. A major issue yet to be touched on (at least on TV) is Sin Cara's mic skills. I have no idea how much English (if any) Sin Cara knows, but to become a top face in WWE, mic skills are a must.
Daniel Bryan: I shook my head when I saw Daniel Bryan going from a feud with Miz and becoming United States champion to...a part of Apple? I know WWE is really dropping the ball by having Daniel Bryan "demoted" to lower midcard status and feuding with the Corre. One of the major knocks on Daniel is the mic work (promos he's cut after his Miz feud have been average to below average in my book). He could be a good choice to move to Smackdown, but for some reason, I'd rather see him as a heel if he's pushed. Then he can do the "I have till FIVE!" bit again.
Jack Swagger: Swagger deserves better than this. He's gone from World Heavyweight champion to Michael Cole's trainer. Then Cole decides to slap Swagger in the ring on RAW for losing to Jerry Lawler, further showing how far down the totem pole Swagger has dropped. I would love for Swagger to turn face here, but somehow I do think that this could just be the next installment of Cole getting the better of Lawler at Extreme Rules (basically Swagger will tease the face turn but help Cole win anyway and show it was all a ruse). So in a nutshell, Swagger could be a good choice for the top Smackdown face, but it is unlikely to happen.
Big Show/Kane: Both are in supporting roles now. Big Show and Kane are also up there in age, which, to me, works against them. Not going to be the top face on Smackdown.
R-Truth: Fine, I'll mention him because he has a title match at Extreme Rules. But his face gimmick is far more entertainment than anything else, and I find it hard to take his act seriously. Unless he turns heel, I cannot see him as anything more than a midcarder.

(1) Moving Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, and/or John Morrison to Smackdown would be great choices.

Wednesday ramblings
Just because I feel like it (this is likely not going to be a regular thing or even a semi-regular thing), I just wanted to base my thoughts on several WWE questions/ideas floating around the internet recently. So here we go:

(1) Your thoughts on Nexus' impact so far?
It started out great, but has been struggling to stay afloat lately. Nexus arguably had the best "debut" in WWE at least in the last several years (in quotation marks because we technically saw them in NXT first, but never united as a group like that) when they trashed the ring, beat up everyone at ringside, and some guy was released because he choked a ring announcer with a tie and spat on some former Thuganomics rapper. There are a bunch of mistakes WWE made in handling Nexus, but these three stand out the most to me as of this date:
First, Nexus should have won the 7-on-7 match at SummerSlam. Sure, I loved Daniel Bryan being the seventh man and I would leave his performance pretty much the same. However, at the end, Cena would be the last man for Team WWE, while Wade Barrett would be last for Nexus. Barrett, likely by crook, should have beaten Cena. Instead, Nexus takes a very big blow to its momentum.
Second, WWE should not have booked Nexus to lose members -- or "getting rid of the weak links." Instead of kicking Darren Young out of the group, they should have booked Young to beat down some random jobber, much like how Sheamus took care of Jamie Noble. And hell, make Young do it again the next week as well. Here, Nexus gains a more intimidating force instead of losing a weak link.
Third, WWE should have added a few more members from NXT Season 2 to the stable. Not all of them (there are some people from Season 2 that should not be on TV right now, like Lucky Cannon and Eli Cottonwood). I would have had Husky Harris join once Skip Sheffield went down with his broken leg. I would have been interested to see Percy Watson as a heel. Heck, even have Kaval join as a heel (more on this thought later). The old adage is true...there is strength in numbers, and if Nexus kept growing, WWE would have to notice. Maybe it would be too much like how the nWo used to operate, but wasn't that one of the bright spots of WCW during the mid to late 90s (aside from their Cruiserweight Division anyway)?
(2) Thoughts on turning John Cena heel?
I personally would love for WWE to pull the trigger on this one. Cena's act is totally stale right now, and I think with Randy Orton getting huge pops wherever he goes, this is the best time to do it.
When Cena had his Thuganomics rapping gimmick on Smackdown, I really liked it. It was edgy and fresh (at least to me). Cena showed he could work crowds, generate heel heat, and still be quite entertaining. However, now he's basically a new-age Hulk Hogan, becoming SuperCena every time he is down, not selling injuries from the previous night or previous week, and of course, the kids and ladies love him. The PG rating of the show doesn't help matters, either, at least with regard to his on-air character.
I watched some footage from the rapping Cena from a few years back, and loved the heat he got. Even when he was the Prototype in OVW, he was not too shabby at getting the crowd to hate him. And wasn't it a Bruebaker character or whatever he played (basically a cursing jacked-up dude) in a Youtube video? That was also kinda awesome.
The only thing that prevents the heel turn is the Cena merchandise sales. Cena moves more merchandise than any other wrestler in the company right now, and of course, Vinnie Mac is "all about the mon'ay."
This leads into the third question:
(3) Who will win at Hell in a Cell? Barrett or Cena?
This is a good question, and there are arguments for either side to win.
Barrett should win because Nexus needs two things: (1) a win to stay in existence; and (2) a big name to make them feared again. Specifically, that big name should have major drawing power, should be feared amongst all people on the WWE roster, but also command major respect. John Cena right now fits that billing perfectly. Just think: Cena forced to join Nexus would instantly provide that shock value to make Nexus relevant, confident, and on the road to thriving.
So why should Cena win? The best argument is that the Nexus merchandise sales have been atrocious, with Vince being mortified at the numbers. So of course, if something doesn't work (like the XFL), it's best to just get canned, right?
Well, sorta. Nexus isn't an experiment that was doomed to fail. WWE just mishandled how Nexus was branded. Nexus can be saved, and forcing major stars (especially major babyfaces) to join a potentially mega-heelish stable would be a way to save the group. The XFL, on the other hand, yeah Vince. Bad idea there.
(4) Thoughts on the Daniel Bryan/Miz storyline?
Arguably the feud of the year in any promotion, although I think MCMG and Beer Money have a legit argument there. DB and Miz have waged war since February, and is really Miz's ticket to main event stardom. DB, on the other hand, can use this feud to launch a great WWE career. I am still not liking DB's new music, but at least he is getting the chance to put on some real good stuff now. In a nutshell, let's hope the feud continues for a bit longer, and it's very possible it could last through the rest of the year.
(5) Thoughts on turning Kaval heel?
I just saw this one today, and I think it is best for his career if he does that. Kaval's look, to me, screams "use him as a heel." The warrior mentality, the bald head...yeah, that sounds like a heel to me. Guys like Stone Cold and Randy Orton, they gained steam by first being a heel, and over time that same attitude being used on mega-heels (instead of faces) got them huge pops.
Kaval can be of that same mold. I mean, look where he is now. The guy went to Smackdown and even lost to Chavo Guerrero. Really, now?! I personally think Kaval even needs to move away from LayCool and just branch out on his own. Kaval needs to really embrace the warrior gimmick, but take it to another level -- a heelish one -- to get noticed and to thrive.
(6) OK, can WWE do anything right now to boost ratings?
The short answer is...no. Monday Night Football will always have a stranglehold on the ratings, and even when it's not football season, MMA has taken away a large chunk of fanbase. Other promotions like TNA and ROH are still too small or not too well-known yet to give WWE a run for its money.
This means WWE, if anything at all, will probably have to provide something internally to spark interest. Namely, the storylines have to be more compelling, the entertainment has to be better, and the wrestling has to be great as well. Nexus becoming a force again could do the trick, although I do also wonder if turning Cena heel will lead to crappier ratings (answer likely is yes). Basically, there is no backfire-proof decision that can be a solution to this question right now -- at least none I can foresee.
(7) Thoughts on unifying the Women's and Divas Title and retiring the Women's Title lineage?
There is a women's/divas division to even speak of? Yeah, I say that because that's how WWE has basically treated the division the last few years. It has gone from somewhat relevant to totally irrelevant. It really is a sad sight to see. WWE says the divas are supposed to be smart, sexy, and powerful. Well, can't you find some divas who fit that bill but can also wrestle? I think so.
Look at Cheerleader Melissa. Sara Del Rey. MsChif. Yeah, they all graced SHIMMER, and could really bolster the division if WWE ever cared to sign wrestlers instead of fitness models or Amazonian women. Heck, I'm pretty sure even Naomi in NXT Season 3 has a heck of a future wrestling-wise if used right. Is Finlay training the divas? I doubt it. The guy is not even on TV anymore, so tell him to get the divas into wrestling shape and put on a decent match for a change. It only takes one real good storyline to get the ball rolling. The entertainment can be there, but WWE forgets what the second "W" in WWE stands for.
But then again, even WWE forgets what the second "W" in WWE means with the guys as well. So I guess they fail.

Booking Daniel Bryan/Miz
Of course, pretty much all of this will likely not occur. But it's interesting to see how something made up compares or contrasts to the real-life WWE product. And with that, it's time for Fantasy Booking!

Unfortunately it was pretty much the lone bright spot for DB on NXT. He lost all his NXT matches (officially 0-10), looked weak in the challenges, and ultimately got booted off NXT because "WWE management" decided to punish him and Michael Tarver for wanting themselves off the show.
But of course, DB played a significant role on NXT Season 1 even after elimination. He got into verbal and physical altercations with Miz and Michael Cole -- allowing DB to show a side of himself previously unknown to WWE viewers. DB finally had an attitude to go with his great in-ring abilities, and, with the help of his internet followers from ROH and other independent promotions, gained even more followers.
The beginning of Nexus, where all eight NXT Season 1 rookies formed a union to attack everyone at ringside, was arguably one of the greatest RAW moments of the post-Attitude era. Unfortunately, DB apparently didn't get the memo about "no spitting and no choking people with ties" and was released from the company shortly thereafter.
At the time, many people -- myself included -- felt this was a work. Why would WWE release their biggest draw (no argument here) from NXT Season 1, especially when it would be clear DB would have had a prominent role as the main wrestler for the group? Surely Vince McMahon could have merely suspended DB, fined him, etc., but they went the extra mile to release him?
As an aside, WWE, especially lately, has had a run of inconsistent management decisions. They released DB for the reasons just stated above. But Tiffany apparently got arrested for a domestic dispute with husband Drew McIntyre, and she's only been suspended. And then Serena got released for not living her Straight Edge Society persona even outside of the ring. Huh?
Anyway, DB is off TV for a few weeks, and then, predictably to many, was Cena's seventh man in the WWE vs. Nexus 7-on-7 elimination match at SummerSlam. In my opinion, it was a show-stealing match not just because of DB, but how they booked DB. They booked him extremely strong, having him take out a couple of Nexus members on his own. The back story with Miz was played perfectly. Heel Michael Cole fired on all cylinders, complaining vehemently that Miz should have been the seventh man. Continuity, people. That's another thing that makes me happy when watching WWE programming.
So now we get to the present. After weeks of going back and forth getting the upper hand on the other, DB challenges Miz to a U.S. Title match at Night of Champions, stating that he can beat Miz if given the opportunity. Miz accepts, and fans approve. Miz tries to attack DB, DB slaps on what he now calls the "LeBell Lock" (more on this in the next paragraph). Alex Riley comes from the crowd to attack DB. Miz misses DB with the briefcase and gets dumped over the top. Meanwhile, Riley gets caught in the LeBell Lock. Riley taps as Miz storms away from the ring.
I have dug up some info on the LeBell Lock. It's named after "Judo" Gene LeBell, a two-time national judo champion and former NWA World Champion. LeBell, also a Hollywood actor, roughed it up with the likes of Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Steven Seagal. According to LeBell, the LeBell Lock is "a neck crank where you're key locking the guy's arm so he can't roll." This is what separates his move from Chris Benoit's Crippler Crossface. When Benoit put his Crossface on Triple H to win the World Heavyweight Title for the first time, HHH tried to roll out of the maneuver, although he was still stuck in the hold. I am fascinated with submission moves, and the LeBell Lock is quite a devastating move. I think DB picked a hell of a finisher, although I would really love to see Cattle Mutilation in WWE.
So after all this, I now get to the point of this post: Fantasy Booking.

Night of Champions PPV (9/19/10): I personally would have Miz retain here, while booking DB very strong. The match goes about 15 minutes, with several near falls and submission attempts from DB. Fans get really into the match as it becomes clear DB could really win. All of a sudden, Alex Riley comes out (from the crowd or the ramp) to distract DB and the ref. Miz grabs his MITB briefcase and plants DB with the Skull-Crushing Finale on the briefcase. Miz discards the evidence and pins DB. Cole plays the heel role all the way and celebrates as King backs DB and Striker likely stays neutral (giving both men two thumbs up). Hoping for a match around the ***3/4 range.
Next night on RAW: Miz either opens the show or gets the beginning of the second hour to gloat about his win at NoC and tells DB to go back to the minors where he belongs. Heel Cole does his thing and praises Miz through the headset, as usual, while Lawler likely just stays silent for the most part (perhaps chiming in with support for DB otherwise). DB's music plays, so King now gets a little more talkative. Miz looks up the ramp, ready to fight. DB comes through the crowd and ambushes Miz. Michael Cole's obviously pissed. Riley comes out, but DB gets him as well. Miz and Riley retreat.
Next few RAWs leading up to Hell in a Cell: More of Miz and DB trading getting the upper hand on the other. Not feeling too creative to think up many specifics, but it could involve DB and Miz feeding monstrous opponents (i.e. Mark Henry, Khali) to the other, or ridiculous stipulations (i.e., wrestle with one arm tied behind back).
Also, we could see tag matches. Can you say Miz/Riley vs. DB/Kaval? Might as well incorporate Kaval into the RAW picture because then Cole can criticize Kaval as well, right?
On one of the RAWs before Hell in a Cell, DB, perhaps with the help of the anonymous RAW GM, is granted a rematch for the U.S. Title "based off favorable reactions from the crowd and rewarding Daniel Bryan for his valiant effort...and because Miz had to cheat to win." Miz is pissed. Cole is livid. Of course, I would also have Miz getting the last laugh on the RAW before Hell in a Cell.
Hell in a Cell PPV (10/3/10): A 15 to 18-minute match. At the end, ref is knocked down accidentally for whatever reason. Riley comes down to interfere again, but DB sees what's coming and trades blows with Riley by the ropes. Miz hits a low blow on DB. The MITB briefcase is conveniently nearby.
Riley holds Bryan up against the ropes. Miz charges with the briefcase, DB moves out of the way, and Miz nails Riley. DB gets Miz in the LeBell Lock in the middle of the ring as the ref starts coming to. Cole is livid, King is excited. Fans are on the edge of their seat. Ref checks on Miz, and after about 30 seconds, Miz taps. DB is the new U.S. champion! DB celebrates in the ring as Cole fumes on air. Match around ****.
Next night on RAW (10/4/10): Miz opens the show dejected. More heel Cole on the air, saying it was a fluke win for DB. DB comes out to taunt Miz, saying he knew he could beat Miz and proved it at Hell in a Cell. Miz says he is still Mr. MITB and that is something DB will never be. DB says Miz is right, he's not Mr. MITB...he plans on winning the Royal Rumble in 2011 to earn his World Title shot, instead of relying on a briefcase.
Miz says he is entitled to a rematch. He says they are tied, 1-1 (although it's more than that with the encounters they had while DB was still a part of NXT), and the rubber match will take place at an appropriately named PPV, Bragging Rights. Whomever wins at Bragging Rights can claim bragging rights over the other. It would likely be the only match on the card that is not RAW vs. Smackdown.
NOTE: Bragging Rights could also be a PPV where other titles (other than Divas/Women's) could be unified. For purposes of this Fantasy Booking, I'm assuming that will not be the case here.
Next two RAWs: Anyway, DB continues to tell Miz and Cole that they can't say he never accomplished anything in WWE anymore, because he holds the U.S. Title. Who knows, maybe they can throw in a segment where DB has promo time, he gets Cole in the ring, and pretty much intimidates him much like what Drew McIntyre did to Teddy Long. That might get a bunch of DB marks to go nuts.
Bragging Rights PPV (10/24/10): Match again given considerable time, around 20-22 minutes. At some point, Miz will try to shock everyone by attempting to put the LeBell Lock on DB, but DB blocks it, gets out, and hits the Skull-Crushing Finale on Miz. False finish. End comes when Miz sends DB into the turnbuckle (perhaps exposed from a previous spot), goes for SCF, but DB counters into a crossface (NOT LeBell Lock). Miz attempts to fight out -- and he'll even try to roll out of it (LeBell Lock wouldn't allow the rolling to occur) -- but DB holds on. Miz agonizingly close to the ropes. Miz gets to ropes. Miz to the corner, DB misses a foot in the corner. Miz tries for the SCF again, but DB grabs the ropes as Miz tries to drop down. With Miz now flat on his face, DB drops down and clamps on the LeBell Lock. Miz struggles for a while before tapping again. DB retains; match around ****1/4 to ****1/2.
Road to Survivor Series: Miz is still fuming. Cole still calls DB a tool. Miz says Survivor Series is coming up, and while he may not have the U.S. Title, he plans to show once and for all what John Cena was missing out on when Cena took DB instead of Miz at SummerSlam. Miz challenges DB to a Survivor Series elimination match at the PPV, with Miz and DB being captains of their respective teams. Basically, I see Miz recruiting Nexus members to face DB, while DB recruits Darren Young, a few upper midcarders, and perhaps even main eventers. Miz could merely be a "coach" -- almost like his NXT role as a pro -- or be in the match itself to make it a 6-on-6 match. Continuity, people!
Since there is about a month gap between Bragging Rights and Survivor Series, I would make the match rather early and have Nexus members continually get the upper hand on DB and his team. Build Nexus strong.
And why did I not make Darren Young a surprise entrant for DB's team? Because Young, back on the 9/6/10 RAW, had already planned on getting back at Nexus for kicking him out of the group. Surprise really won't work now -- even if they dismantled Young early on, to the point where he could be doubtful for the PPV...and then show up anyway.
Survivor Series PPV (11/21/10): Teams trade eliminations, with Darren Young surprising many by eliminating a couple of Nexus members (we'll use Tarver and Slater here, just because I said so). Nexus eliminates other guys DB recruited. We'll have it down to Miz, Barrett, and Gabriel vs. DB and Darren Young. Gabriel, with help from Barrett and Miz, hits the 450 on Young. Down to 3-on-1. After a couple minutes, DB takes out Gabriel with the LeBell Lock. Barrett comes in and hits his finisher on DB.
Miz wants the tag. Barrett tags Miz in reluctantly. Miz picks up a prone DB for the SCF. DB counters out and puts on the LeBell Lock. Miz pleads to Barrett to help him, but Barrett does nothing -- still fuming from Miz wanting in the match. Miz taps...down to DB vs. Barrett.
Barrett and DB exchange moves. Eventually, DB makes a mistake, Barrett hits his finisher again, and gets the three. Barrett is the sole survivor. Match would go about 20-25 minutes and get around ***3/4 to ****.
And now, folks, what I feel is the best part begins.
11/22/10 RAW: The night after Survivor Series, DB, being the fighting champion he is, has a match with a Nexus member (we'll go with Gabriel because he has flashy moves too). After a hard-fought win, DB is obviously drained as Cole starts to at least give DB a little respect for the good matches he's had lately --but Cole still thinks DB is a tool.
All of a sudden, Miz comes through the crowd and blindsides DB with the briefcase. He then CASHES IN his MITB briefcase to the shock of everyone. Cole, being a Miz fan, is torn on the decision, but does end up supporting it. Ref allows DB to get to his feet.
Bell rings, Miz hits the SCF on a prone DB. Miz gets the three count and is the new U.S. Champion. Cole now goes off his rocker on how genius that move was. Of course, Lawler and the fans are sick to their stomach.
11/29/10 RAW: Miz gets a segment on the show to once again say he has the last laugh on DB.
DB comes out to interrupt. And this is his promo:
"No, Miz. Daniel Bryan has won in the end. Why? For two reasons. First, at the beginning of the year, no one knew who Daniel Bryan was in WWE. But now, everyone knows Daniel Bryan. I have traveled the independent scene, made a name for myself there, and then even when starting out a lowly rookie on NXT and dealing with your crap, I still managed to break out and make a name for myself here.
But second, and most importantly, I got under your skin so badly over the last few months, you had to give up your most prized possession -- the Money in the Bank briefcase and a possible World Title shot -- to get a shot at beating me one more time. And while you did beat me -- in a cowardly manner -- the former champion ALWAYS gets a rematch. But it won't just be any rematch. It's the rematch to end this epic feud...we must settle the score once and for all. And I will exercise my rematch clause at the next PPV...Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. That's right, Miz! You and I will go at it one last time for the U.S. Title...in a Ladder Match!"
Next two RAWs: Probably a bunch of promo work. DB and Miz will likely get random opponents to face to showcase their dominance.
TLC PPV (12/19/10): This will be a war from the start. Miz comes out first and immediately goes for the U.S. Title. DB races down the aisle to stop Miz, and the war is on. I see Miz going after DB's leg, while DB might eventually try to work over Miz's arm and neck. Maybe a Skull-Crushing Finale off the ladder? I dunno. It needs to be extreme (push the boundaries of whatever WWE will allow them to do) to further illustrate the bad blood between the two.
Anyway, I would give the match anywhere from 25-30 minutes. For the finish, I'd go with Miz and DB fighting at the top. Two ladders side by side. Miz decks DB down south to send DB down the ladder. Miz climbs a rung or two and has his hands on the belt. But suddenly, DB hits a kick to Miz's leg, and then another. Miz crumples and lies on top of the ladder. DB with the LeBell Lock on the top of the ladders as the fans go insane. Miz is tapping but it doesn't matter. Miz goes unconscious. DB lets go as Miz just lies there. DB grabs the title and, while stepping on Miz, unhooks the belt and wins the U.S. Title. Hopefully a match that garners about ****1/2.

Epilogue: After this PPV, DB will start feuding with others for the title (Alex Riley, maybe?). I hope to see DB and Kaval feud over the title, but that would mean one of them would probably go heel.
In the meantime, Miz will sulk for a week, but then be one of the first to toss his name in the hat for the 2011 Royal Rumble. I would have him as one of the favorites to win.
I know WWE is planning on unifying all the major titles, and they've already started plans to unify the Divas and Women's Titles, something I felt was long overdue. If WWE goes ahead to unify the WWE and World Titles, that might mean Taker/Cena as the main event at WM 27. This would leave Miz in a bind of sorts, but I could still have him winning the Rumble and getting a title shot after Mania.
Of course, if the WWE and World Titles are not unified, I could see Miz winning and then challenging Cena for the title. Remember when Miz first came to RAW as a singles star, fresh off the breakup with John Morrison? Yeah, all those times he would say he's 1-0...2-0...up to 5-0 against Cena? And then they buried Miz temporarily. Well, Miz can restart that feud all over again. And it will be better than the "feud" they had before.

Goals of this fantasy booking:
(1) Book Daniel Bryan as a star. And yes, DB will be a star this way.
(2) Give Miz that defining feud to forever cement him as a main eventer and push him to the next level. Heck, he could be most improved three years in a row with my booking.
(3) Bring back prestige to the U.S. Title. Miz did a good job of bringing a little prestige to the belt, but this feud will push that prestige to astronomical heights. A Ladder Match for a secondary title? Yeah, that's right baby. Don't see that every day anymore.
(4) Show continuity in past storylines. For example, DB's past with Nexus and Miz, Miz's past with Cena, Darren Young and Nexus, etc.

Daniel Bryan situation
So I found out last night from my friend that WWE released Daniel Bryan (hereinafter, "DB"). Apparently, some believe it's a work, while others claim it's legit. There are arguments for both sides, although I do believe that the "work" argument has the better of this one.
Why it's legit: Basically, the strongest argument for this is that WWE has informed high-level executives that the release was legit. There is really no reason to deceive these corporate officers, and it would be extremely unlikely to have them be "in on it" this whole time. After all, those guys have better things to do, like run the corporate side of things.
Another argument is the WWE's PG rating. Sources indicated that the reason for the release centered on two incidents from the NXT beatdown on RAW. The first was DB choking ring announcer Justin Roberts with his own tie (which, by the way, would be an awesome .gif). The second incident was DB spitting on John Cena in the ring before kicking the champ in the head. Puzzlingly, DB's assault of Michael Cole was not among the reasons (despite RAW airing much of that footage from NXT multiple times).
The choking incident apparently violated the WWE's "Benoit Rule," which basically prohibits anyone from choking another person with a foreign object (although apparently you can still do chokeslams and "choke" people by wrapping the victim's arms around their neck). I can see how this has merit, as WWE has tried to steer clear of any Benoit references (save for the crossface) over the last three years.
Also, sources state that high-level executives, presumably from the USA Network, basically forced Vince McMahon to release DB. So it's not Vince's fault, apparently, although Vince did allow the beatdown to occur in the first place.
Why it's a work: Put simply, why in the hell would WWE invest a lot of energy in building up DB's storyline between him, Cole, and Miz, and then release him after things were going so well? The NXT beatdown was arguably the best ending to a RAW in years, so much so that the NXT Season 1 graduates replicated it on Christian and Miz at an FCW show. Now, the NXT graduates are still a force even without DB, but let's face it: the stable just lost its most high-profile figure. Sorry Wade Barrett, but even though you won NXT, DB will always be the best of the Season 1 rookies.
Another apparent giveaway was Michael Cole's Twitter account, where he personally claimed responsibility (kayfabe) for DB's firing. I can see if Cole broke character and started saying how DB is really a nice guy and wished him well. But to keep this apparent charade up by claiming responsibility for another guy's misfortune -- especially when in a storyline feud with the guy -- all but convinces me otherwise.
And finally, I have to rebut that whole PG argument. OK, so WWE has banned chair shots to the head, banned certain moves from the show, and cut out the swearing. Fine. But the penalty for DB -- being released -- went against things pretty significantly. We've seen wrestlers spit on other wrestlers. Hell, we've even seen Carlito spit apple at Heath Slater (and other WWE superstars over the years; Carlito was released for refusing drug rehab, not the apple spitting). The spitting deal, in a nutshell, is not sufficient grounds for a release here.
I'll admit the choking of Roberts with the tie was pushing things. But let's see...Heath Slater was about to choke Cena with the ring rope, but aborted that for some reason. So does this mean you can't choke non-wrestlers, period? Hell, wasn't it Darren Young who punched the timekeeper? Shouldn't Young have been released for that? Oh, and David Otunga punched the referee...surely that's grounds for at least a fine and suspension, right? Not in this world, apparently.
And seriously, if WWE really was PG, they would have gotten rid of many diva gimmicks a while ago. Technically, we would probably have no such thing as a Last Man Standing match. Or even a Hell in a Cell match. Or an Elimination Chamber match. There would be no TLC matches, no tables matches, no ladder matches, no chairs matches.
And of course, if the show really was PG, John Cena would always bounce back like he's Superman, with no ill effects from the previous show. Oh wait, that already happens. Never mind.
Until DB shows up in another promotion in about three months, I will prefer to believe this is a work. Right now, it appears to me that DB is being treated as a scapegoat to "teach the NXT stable a lesson on not assaulting WWE workers."
If WWE really did release DB, it would likely go down as one of the worst decisions in recent wrestling history -- whether it was through USA or WWE higher-ups is irrelevant to me. And if DB was indeed released, TNA would clearly come knocking. ROH and Dragon Gate wouldn't be far behind. WWE knows DB has unparalleled potential to be a huge star, and they would make sure to keep him away from other promotions.
As a side note, will this affect Evan Bourne's push? Kaval is really the next big star in NXT, so the smaller guys need to be pushed. Rey Mysterio has been captivating us in the States for many years now, and it seems fitting he's in the World Title picture at Fatal 4 Way. But we do need more smaller stars pushed, and Bourne is the next guy in line.
Anyway, DB will have a job. But that's not the issue. If anything, this makes the whole NXT angle a lot more interesting, and it will definitely get viewers to tune in for the latest, given that they haven't totally turned their backs on WWE.

Bryan Danielson's future -- whether in WWE or another promotion -- is one of the hottest topics in pro wrestling right now, if not the hottest. It should be interesting to see what transpires over the next few days to weeks.

Fantasy Booking II
While there are several matches already heavily rumored to take place at WrestleMania 26, there is one match that I would book because it not only is a match never seen before; it is a match that would help launch a stellar WWE career. If I booked things, I would have set up a WM 26 encounter between The Undertaker and Bryan Danielson. And this is how it would go down:

For several weeks through mid-December: I would hype that Bryan Danielson is coming to WWE. Hell, even let Danielson use the "American Dragon" nickname; it'll be perfect for the Taker angle. Likely not able to get permission for use of ROH footage, but otherwise show Danielson training or do all sorts of video packages to get the crowd interested.
12/14/09 RAW (Slammy Awards): When HBK accepts the award for Match of the Year (against Taker), HBK lays down the challenge for WM 26: Taker/HBK II. Crowd goes nuts.
12/18/09 Smackdown: Taker comes out to talk about the HBK challenge. Basically, he says he will have an immediate answer for him, face to face, next week.
12/21/09 RAW: Taker and HBK, face to face. Taker turns down HBK's challenge, stating HBK had his shot and failed. HBK continues to get Taker to accept a match, going so far as promising to win the Royal Rumble and making sure Taker is still champ going into WM 26.
But then...cue a variation of "The Final Countdown." Bryan Danielson appears, and the crowd is thinking...WTF?! Danielson gets on the mic, introduces himself as the hottest free agent on the market, and gets to the point: he came to WWE to see if he truly is the best in the world, and the best way to find out is to end the Undertaker's WM win streak. Crowd is still mixed on whether to take him seriously or not.
Taker: "What makes you think you can break my Streak?!"
Danielson: "Well, I'll just have to mow down everyone to get to you. And I'll start by facing the man who nearly broke your streak last year: Shawn Michaels!"
*crowd cheers*
Give HBK/Danielson about 18-20 minutes and would hover around **** for me. It should be a wrestling clinic, with a few big spots by Danielson thrown in to get the crowd on his side. HBK can do some big spots too, if he wants. The point is to get Danielson over. Danielson wins with the Cattle Mutilation after putting HBK in it for a few seconds. Michael Cole and King comment on how they have never seen such a devastating hold before, and they hope Danielson is a mainstay on RAW.
12/25/09 Smackdown: Taker comes out.
Taker: "Bryan Danielson, I must give you credit. You were very impressive in your debut match with Shawn Michaels. But one big win is nowhere near enough to face me."
*Teddy Long's music plays*
Long: "Playa, I understand where you're coming from. That's why I took it upon myself to invite Bryan Danielson to Smackdown tonight."
*crowd cheers*
Long: "And you're right, one win is not enough to face you. But I must find out for myself whether Bryan Danielson is the real deal, or if his win over HBK was a fluke. Bryan will face one of Smackdown's best superstars tonight: Chris Jericho!"
*crowd cheers again, splash of boos for Jericho's name being mentioned*
Later in the night, probably at the halfway mark (since DX faced Hart Dynasty for the Unified Tag Titles in the main event), Jericho and Danielson have an excellent match, again hovering near ****. Again, it will get 18-20 minutes. End sequence comes when Jericho goes for the Walls, Danielson counters out, hits a DDT and floats over into Cattle Mutilation. Jericho submits after being in the hold for a few seconds. Grisham and Striker comment on the devastating effect of the Cattle Mutilation; Grisham would love Danielson on Smackdown, and Striker has a mixed feeling because he must play the heel announcer, yet still be impressed.
Danielson gets on the mic right after the match ends:
Danielson: "Taker! I know you're watching! This performance should have really gotten your attention. I want an answer from you next week...do you dare face The American Dragon?!"
*crowd oohs and ahhs; camera remains close up on an intense Danielson and fades to black*
12/28/09 RAW: HBK is still distracted by his loss to Danielson last week. HHH tells HBK to focus because they have a match tonight. Timbaland (the guest host for 12/28) comes in and asks what's up. He finds out HBK is not himself after his loss last week.
Timbaland: "Well, you know...Bryan Danielson *is* in the building tonight..."
HBK: "WHAT?!" *goes nuts*
Timbaland: "Easy, easy..."
HBK: "NO! I don't want him here! But you know what? Since he's already here, how about HBK/Danielson II, TONIGHT!"
*crowd cheers in the background*
Timbaland: "Hey now, you know you're already in a match with Big Show and a partner of his choosing tonight."
*crowd boos*
Timbaland: "But the Board of Directors really love Bryan. They say he's got huge potential, and with me being surrounded by stars all the time, I agree. The Board requested that I use Bryan on RAW tonight. Thus, I have Danielson booked in a match tonight. Bryan told me he wanted only the best, so I'm gonna give that to him. Tonight, Bryan Danielson faces...Randy Orton!"
*crowd approves*
Danielson and Orton square off in another impressive performance to boost Danielson's credibility. Orton at one point will hit the RKO, but the momentum sends Danielson outside. I'd book yet another match here coming in at ***3/4 (or equivalent). Danielson gets the Cattle Mutilation on Orton, but Orton refuses to submit right away. Legacy comes down to ringside to help Orton. Rhodes distracts the ref, while DiBiase comes in and tries to hit Danielson with a pipe (something that won't make a lot of noise). Bryan ducks, and DiBiase hits Orton (setting up his face turn, but that's a different angle). Danielson bounces off the ropes and kicks DiBiase right in the face, knocking him to the outside. Danielson nails Rhodes off the apron. Danielson then puts an unconscious Orton in Cattle Mutilation and the ref calls for the bell, making Danielson the winner.
1/1/10 Smackdown: The new year starts off with Teddy Long in the ring, carrying a leather folder.
Long: "Now listen up playas. I just had to tune into RAW again to see the latest on the hottest free agent on the market, Bryan Danielson. And might I add...another tremendous outing!"
*crowd cheers*
Long: "So Bryan Danielson, please come on out, I have something to ask of you."
*Danielson comes out to cheers*
Long: "Bryan, based on your three spectacular matches, I would like to give you this..."
*Long opens the folder, containing a Smackdown contract; crowd cheers more*
Long: "Bryan Danielson, I would love it -- and the WWE Universe would love it -- if you signed here on the dotted line to become the newest Smackdown superstar!"
*Vickie comes out, saying her trademark "Excuse me!" and the crowd boos a LOT*
Vickie: "Teddy, as official consultant, I am 100 percent AGAINST this." *more crowd booing* *Vickie looks at Danielson* "I don't care who you are. My husband, Eddie Guerrero, had to work for YEARS to get a world title shot. And yet, Teddy Long is trying to eventually get you signed to face the Undertaker in a world title match this quick?! NO! I will not stand for it!"
*Vickie grabs the contract and rips it up, leading to heavy crowd booing*
1/4/10 RAW: Bret Hart is guest host. He comes out during the middle of the show and cuts a short promo on the ramp. He says how he has watched WWE programming for the last few weeks and that one man has caught his eye as the next great WWE Superstar: Bryan Danielson. Danielson does not appear on the show because the card is already stacked. Vince's character can come out and explain later that he banned Danielson from the building because he could (and to get more boos for his character).
1/8/10 Smackdown: Teddy Long wants an answer from Danielson: RAW or Smackdown? Long says Vickie has no say in this; he is still the GM of Smackdown. Danielson comes out. Long basically says if Danielson signs with Smackdown, he can make Danielson/Taker a reality. Danielson plays to the crowd, and then signs with Smackdown. Crowd cheers.
Up to the Royal Rumble: Rey Mysterio earns a title shot to face Taker for the World Title. Bryan Danielson continues to say he wants Taker at WM 26.
Batista comes out and tells Danielson to get in line; now that Danielson is a Smackdown superstar, Batista will put the Dragon in his place: dead and a footnote in WWE history. Danielson and Batista have a match on Smackdown. It need not be an epic match, but very good nonetheless. It will result in a no-contest as both men either get counted out or DQ'd.
The Smackdown before the Rumble, Batista says that his only goal is to win the Royal Rumble and become the World Heavyweight Champion; he doesn't care who he has to go through. Batista announces he is in the Rumble. Danielson says Batista better watch what he wishes for, because Danielson is also in the Rumble. Danielson and Batista duke it out in the ring and Danielson tosses Batista over the top.
1/31/10 (Royal Rumble PPV): Taker retains his World Title. During the Rumble, Batista enters somewhere around #16 and eliminates a few people. Let's say Batista eliminates a few people. Buzzer sounds...it's Danielson! Danielson goes right after Batista. Danielson eliminates Batista, making the crowd go nuts for a little while. Batista is livid, goes back in the ring, and beats the tar out of Danielson, then eliminates Danielson. Batista continues to beat Danielson down as refs try to separate the two.
By the way, as sad as it sounds (because I love elevating new talent), I would have HHH winning the Rumble. He would face Sheamus for the WWE Title.
Leading up to Elimination Chamber PPV: More jawjacking between Batista and Danielson. Remember, Taker's still the champ. Batista is primarily concerned with becoming champion; he sees ending the WM streak as a bonus. Danielson, on the other hand, is a person wanting to make a statement, and sees ending the Streak as the ultimate career-maker (the title is great too, but it's secondary to Danielson -- although he never says that).
Teddy Long makes the Elimination Chamber match for the World Title: Taker vs. Batista vs. Rey vs. Jericho vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Danielson.
2/21/10 (Elimination Chamber PPV): Danielson attacked by an unknown assailant, so he cannot go in the chamber. All signs point to Batista taking Danielson out, but it's not revealed yet. John Morrison takes Danielson's place in the chamber.
Rey and Jericho start. Batista in next and he pummels Mysterio, making it basically 2-on-1 against Mysterio. Morrison in fourth and he goes after Jericho. McIntyre in fifth and Taker out last.
McIntyre out first from Morrison's Starship Pain. Jericho out second from a Taker chokeslam. Oh, and by the way, Edge will attack Jericho after he exits the chamber (setting up Edge/Jericho at WM 26). This leaves Taker, Rey, Batista, and Morrison.
Rey goes for 619 on Batista, but Batista moves out of the way, bounces off the ropes and spears Rey out of his boots for three. Down to Taker, Morrison, and Batista for the title.
All three men are winded now. Morrison tries a Flying Chuck on Batista, but Batista catches Morrison and turns it into a Batista Bomb for three.
Batista momentarily celebrates his win over Morrison, but Taker -- who had been down at that point -- sits up to the crowd's cheering. Taker tombstones Batista to retain the title.
2/26/10 Smackdown: Batista is fuming that he did not win the World Title and wants a rematch at WM 26. Enter John Cena (!) on Smackdown. Cena says that he too is mad: he did not win the Rumble, he did not win the RAW Chamber match (assume Sheamus retained again), and now he has no match at WM 26. Cena even teases about maybe going into the MITB Ladder Match.
Long comes out with Danielson. Long says Danielson told him it was Batista who knocked him out of the Chamber match, and it did not pay off because Batista still did not win the World Title. And as further punishment, Batista will NOT face Taker for the World Title. The crowd cheers and Batista is even more irate.
Long says he has an idea for Batista. Why not have Cena and Batista in an interpromotional match at WM 26? Crowd likes it. Batista wants none of it because he wants a World Title shot. Long says then Batista can watch WM 26 from his home in Washington, D.C., and Batista is beyond fuming. Cena is laughing at Batista. Batista then pummels Cena in the ring. More stuff can go down between Cena and Batista where they will end up having a match at WM 26.
Shawn Michaels appears on Smackdown via satellite. He still wants to face Taker at WM 26; it's been eating away at him for months now, ever since Danielson beat him in Danielson's RAW debut match. HBK issues a challenge: HBK/Danielson II, next week, and the winner faces Taker at WM 26 for the gold.
Taker comes out at the end of the show and cuts his usual Taker-like promo. He again explicitly says he does not want to face HBK because he beat Shawn already. He says nothing explicitly about Danielson. Taker says he is a champion for a reason: because he can beat the best, and he is second to none at WM. Taker implies (does not outright say) that if Shawn wins next week, he gets Taker for the title at WM 26.
NOTE: This still works. Even if people pick Shawn to win against Danielson, most people will think the Streak will likely remain intact at WM 26. If Danielson wins, even more people will be picking Taker at WM 26.
3/5/10 Smackdown: About three weeks before WM 26, we have HBK/Danielson II. I would make it better than Danielson's debut match, especially because Danielson would have been in a WWE ring for about three months now, making him more comfortable with the work environment.
Danielson this time does NOT win with Cattle Mutilation; instead, Danielson hits a running big boot (one of his signatures). Michaels oversells the hit as usual, and Danielson pins an unconscious Michaels for three. Danielson becomes the #1 contender to Taker's title.
Please note, Danielson would have used the big boot before, but you must factor in that this would be after about 18-20 minutes of action.
As Danielson celebrates, the gong sounds. Taker appears on the ramp holding the World Title aloft.
3/12/10 Smackdown: Danielson and Taker cut promos. Contract signing takes place at the end of the show. Both men agree to not physically touch the other person until WM 26.
3/19/10 Smackdown: Teddy Long decides to give Danielson and Taker tune-up matches where each can pick the other person's opponent.
Danielson has Taker facing Kane (at least it looks good on paper). Taker and Kane have a decent match, and Taker wins.
Taker has Danielson facing the man who replaced him at Elimination Chamber: John Morrison. I'd put this in the main event slot. Let them go for 15 minutes and further establish Danielson as a legit threat. Danielson gets Cattle Mutilation on Morrison, but Morrison gets to the ropes. Danielson then shocks everyone by using a triangle choke (Hell's Gate) to choke Morrison out for the win.
The last image from the show: Taker's "presence" with the lights, lightning, and smoke. Taker's face appears on the screen, basically saying Danielson's use of a triangle choke has opened the gates of Hell and now will unleash unparalleled fury on Bryan Danielson. "You will rest...in...peace...." Fade to black.
3/26/10 Smackdown: Final Smackdown before WM 26. Taker in the ring at the end of the show for a promo. Danielson comes out to interrupt, and gets right in Taker's face. He says Taker can do all he wants with the lights, the lightning, the smoke, etc., but there is nothing standing between him and getting what he wants: a shot at breaking the Streak and becoming the new World champion. More drama enhanced with the Taker lights; the promo will end like this:
Danielson: "You're right, I have never faced anyone like you before. But your problem is, you have never faced anyone like me. Shawn Michaels has been the closest person to breaking the Streak. And you see, I'm just like Shawn Michaels: I've been in hour-long wars, I've wrestled in excruciating pain, I've bled for the promotions I've worked with. But the thing is, Shawn is in his mid-40s. I'm not even 30. I'm faster than Shawn. Hungrier. I've got his talent, and then some. You've tasted Sweet Chin Music countless times, but you have never felt the wrath of Cattle Mutilation. It's put away countless opponents, and you, Undertaker, will be no exception."
Taker: "Seventeen and 0. Everyone who has come before me has failed. People faster than you, people larger than you, everyone bows before the Undertaker. You can escape many things in life, but you cannot escape death. And at WrestleMania, you will...rest...in...peace...."
3/28/10 (WrestleMania 26): Let these two go. No limits. Take about 30-35 minutes. Have Danielson carry most of the match; he's younger and has way more moves in his arsenal than Taker. Every move will be exhausted, including a bunch of moves Danielson has not even needed to pull out in prior WWE matches. It will have an insane amount of high-impact offense (for a WWE match) and lead to countless near falls. Lots of slaps, chops, and punches mixed in.
End of the match: Taker sets Danielson up for the Tombstone, but it's countered into a DDT by Danielson, and then into Cattle Mutilation. Crowd going nuts. Taker looks like he's about to tap, but holds on. Taker makes one last-ditch effort to make it to the ropes and/or break the hold. Taker is agonizingly close to the ropes and struggles to reach them, but passes out.
The ref rings the bell...the NEW World Heavyweight Champion is Bryan Danielson!

Final Notes: This would obviously be the Shocker of the Year should it happen. But of course, it's WWE, so it's very unlikely to happen -- not at this WrestleMania, not at any WrestleMania.
Trust me, I am a big fan of the Streak. Personally, I do not want the Streak broken because it's become more than a statistic. It's gained its own cult following.
There will be no one who will ever get close to breaking it, not only because it requires longevity, but because the odds favor everyone losing at some point. The Undertaker's streak lives because it fits the character; a supernatural, unstoppable force on his playground never loses.
But think of what it would do for a person who DOES break the Streak. It would clearly be the biggest win of his career. Main eventers don't need the win; they're already established stars. And even though Bryan Danielson is about as big as it gets for an independent pro wrestler, he is still largely unknown to WWE fans. A debut like this would make no one forget Bryan Danielson. And because Danielson is not even 30 (will be 29 in May 2010), Danielson is young enough and telented enough to lead WWE for at least the next 10 years.
Look at the ages of people I consider main eventers:
RAW Brand:
Shawn Michaels is 44.
HHH is 40.
Big Show will be 38 by WM 26.
John Cena is 32.
Randy Orton is 30.
Smackdown Brand:
Undertaker will be 45 by WM 26.
Batista is 40.
Chris Jericho is 39.
Edge is 36.
Rey Mysterio is 35.
CM Punk is 31.
ECW Brand:
William Regal is 41.
Christian is 36.
We need to push younger stars. Punk was getting pushed, but now seems to be taking a back seat to do the Straight Edge Society gimmick.
Note there are fewer people on RAW who I consider main eventers. Why? The same people keep getting pushed and no one else gets elevated; the classic "glass ceiling." Orton and Cena are young and have been main eventers for a while now, but it's been the same thing on RAW for a long time. And even when HHH and HBK are doing DX stuff, they are still winning matches or failing to fully put others over because of politics.
And no, Sheamus is not a main eventer yet. He may have the WWE Title, but he has to prove that he can shine constantly in the main spotlight before I give him the nod.
People get tired of the same stuff all the time. It needs to be freshened up. Send either Orton or Cena to Smackdown and bring some Smackdown guys to RAW in the Draft. I also realize ECW's brand may be folding soon, so I want to bring the top guys from ECW to one of the two big brands. Here are some ideas:
(1) John Morrison to RAW
(2) John Cena to Smackdown
(3) Edge to RAW
(4) Bryan Danielson to Smackdown
(5) William Regal to Smackdown
(6) Christian to Smackdown
I have a feeling Undertaker is retiring soon. I wouldn't think Batista will last more than a few years, either. He's too injury-prone and maybe will have a couple more reigns before he retires for good.
And elevate Kofi Kingston on RAW. He's had tremendous talent, but his push was basically killed off.
New feuds have to be started, but that can't happen if the same people will be feuding all the time.
This took me about 5-6 hours to write. If you made it to the end after having actually read all that I typed, you are a crazy individual.

1/4/10 RAW: Bret Hart is guest host. He comes out during the middle of the show and cuts a short promo on the ramp. He says how he has watched WWE programming for the last few weeks and that one man has caught his eye as the next great WWE Superstar: Bryan Danielson. Danielson does not appear on the show because the card is already stacked. Vince's character can come out and explain later that he banned Danielson from the building because he could (and to get more boos for his character).
1/8/10 Smackdown: Teddy Long wants an answer from Danielson: RAW or Smackdown? Long says Vickie has no say in this; he is still the GM of Smackdown. Danielson comes out. Long basically says if Danielson signs with Smackdown, he can make Danielson/Taker a reality. Danielson plays to the crowd, and then signs with Smackdown. Crowd cheers.
Up to the Royal Rumble: Rey Mysterio earns a title shot to face Taker for the World Title. Bryan Danielson continues to say he wants Taker at WM 26.
Batista comes out and tells Danielson to get in line; now that Danielson is a Smackdown superstar, Batista will put the Dragon in his place: dead and a footnote in WWE history. Danielson and Batista have a match on Smackdown. It need not be an epic match, but very good nonetheless. It will result in a no-contest as both men either get counted out or DQ'd.
The Smackdown before the Rumble, Batista says that his only goal is to win the Royal Rumble and become the World Heavyweight Champion; he doesn't care who he has to go through. Batista announces he is in the Rumble. Danielson says Batista better watch what he wishes for, because Danielson is also in the Rumble. Danielson and Batista duke it out in the ring and Danielson tosses Batista over the top.
1/31/10 (Royal Rumble PPV): Taker retains his World Title. During the Rumble, Batista enters somewhere around #16 and eliminates a few people. Let's say Batista eliminates a few people. Buzzer sounds...it's Danielson! Danielson goes right after Batista. Danielson eliminates Batista, making the crowd go nuts for a little while. Batista is livid, goes back in the ring, and beats the tar out of Danielson, then eliminates Danielson. Batista continues to beat Danielson down as refs try to separate the two.
By the way, as sad as it sounds (because I love elevating new talent), I would have HHH winning the Rumble. He would face Sheamus for the WWE Title.
Leading up to Elimination Chamber PPV: More jawjacking between Batista and Danielson. Remember, Taker's still the champ. Batista is primarily concerned with becoming champion; he sees ending the WM streak as a bonus. Danielson, on the other hand, is a person wanting to make a statement, and sees ending the Streak as the ultimate career-maker (the title is great too, but it's secondary to Danielson -- although he never says that).
Teddy Long makes the Elimination Chamber match for the World Title: Taker vs. Batista vs. Rey vs. Jericho vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Danielson.
2/21/10 (Elimination Chamber PPV): Danielson attacked by an unknown assailant, so he cannot go in the chamber. All signs point to Batista taking Danielson out, but it's not revealed yet. John Morrison takes Danielson's place in the chamber.
Rey and Jericho start. Batista in next and he pummels Mysterio, making it basically 2-on-1 against Mysterio. Morrison in fourth and he goes after Jericho. McIntyre in fifth and Taker out last.
McIntyre out first from Morrison's Starship Pain. Jericho out second from a Taker chokeslam. Oh, and by the way, Edge will attack Jericho after he exits the chamber (setting up Edge/Jericho at WM 26). This leaves Taker, Rey, Batista, and Morrison.
Rey goes for 619 on Batista, but Batista moves out of the way, bounces off the ropes and spears Rey out of his boots for three. Down to Taker, Morrison, and Batista for the title.
All three men are winded now. Morrison tries a Flying Chuck on Batista, but Batista catches Morrison and turns it into a Batista Bomb for three.
Batista momentarily celebrates his win over Morrison, but Taker -- who had been down at that point -- sits up to the crowd's cheering. Taker tombstones Batista to retain the title.
2/26/10 Smackdown: Batista is fuming that he did not win the World Title and wants a rematch at WM 26. Enter John Cena (!) on Smackdown. Cena says that he too is mad: he did not win the Rumble, he did not win the RAW Chamber match (assume Sheamus retained again), and now he has no match at WM 26. Cena even teases about maybe going into the MITB Ladder Match.
Long comes out with Danielson. Long says Danielson told him it was Batista who knocked him out of the Chamber match, and it did not pay off because Batista still did not win the World Title. And as further punishment, Batista will NOT face Taker for the World Title. The crowd cheers and Batista is even more irate.
Long says he has an idea for Batista. Why not have Cena and Batista in an interpromotional match at WM 26? Crowd likes it. Batista wants none of it because he wants a World Title shot. Long says then Batista can watch WM 26 from his home in Washington, D.C., and Batista is beyond fuming. Cena is laughing at Batista. Batista then pummels Cena in the ring. More stuff can go down between Cena and Batista where they will end up having a match at WM 26.
Shawn Michaels appears on Smackdown via satellite. He still wants to face Taker at WM 26; it's been eating away at him for months now, ever since Danielson beat him in Danielson's RAW debut match. HBK issues a challenge: HBK/Danielson II, next week, and the winner faces Taker at WM 26 for the gold.
Taker comes out at the end of the show and cuts his usual Taker-like promo. He again explicitly says he does not want to face HBK because he beat Shawn already. He says nothing explicitly about Danielson. Taker says he is a champion for a reason: because he can beat the best, and he is second to none at WM. Taker implies (does not outright say) that if Shawn wins next week, he gets Taker for the title at WM 26.
NOTE: This still works. Even if people pick Shawn to win against Danielson, most people will think the Streak will likely remain intact at WM 26. If Danielson wins, even more people will be picking Taker at WM 26.
3/5/10 Smackdown: About three weeks before WM 26, we have HBK/Danielson II. I would make it better than Danielson's debut match, especially because Danielson would have been in a WWE ring for about three months now, making him more comfortable with the work environment.
Danielson this time does NOT win with Cattle Mutilation; instead, Danielson hits a running big boot (one of his signatures). Michaels oversells the hit as usual, and Danielson pins an unconscious Michaels for three. Danielson becomes the #1 contender to Taker's title.
Please note, Danielson would have used the big boot before, but you must factor in that this would be after about 18-20 minutes of action.
As Danielson celebrates, the gong sounds. Taker appears on the ramp holding the World Title aloft.
3/12/10 Smackdown: Danielson and Taker cut promos. Contract signing takes place at the end of the show. Both men agree to not physically touch the other person until WM 26.
3/19/10 Smackdown: Teddy Long decides to give Danielson and Taker tune-up matches where each can pick the other person's opponent.
Danielson has Taker facing Kane (at least it looks good on paper). Taker and Kane have a decent match, and Taker wins.
Taker has Danielson facing the man who replaced him at Elimination Chamber: John Morrison. I'd put this in the main event slot. Let them go for 15 minutes and further establish Danielson as a legit threat. Danielson gets Cattle Mutilation on Morrison, but Morrison gets to the ropes. Danielson then shocks everyone by using a triangle choke (Hell's Gate) to choke Morrison out for the win.
The last image from the show: Taker's "presence" with the lights, lightning, and smoke. Taker's face appears on the screen, basically saying Danielson's use of a triangle choke has opened the gates of Hell and now will unleash unparalleled fury on Bryan Danielson. "You will rest...in...peace...." Fade to black.
3/26/10 Smackdown: Final Smackdown before WM 26. Taker in the ring at the end of the show for a promo. Danielson comes out to interrupt, and gets right in Taker's face. He says Taker can do all he wants with the lights, the lightning, the smoke, etc., but there is nothing standing between him and getting what he wants: a shot at breaking the Streak and becoming the new World champion. More drama enhanced with the Taker lights; the promo will end like this:
Danielson: "You're right, I have never faced anyone like you before. But your problem is, you have never faced anyone like me. Shawn Michaels has been the closest person to breaking the Streak. And you see, I'm just like Shawn Michaels: I've been in hour-long wars, I've wrestled in excruciating pain, I've bled for the promotions I've worked with. But the thing is, Shawn is in his mid-40s. I'm not even 30. I'm faster than Shawn. Hungrier. I've got his talent, and then some. You've tasted Sweet Chin Music countless times, but you have never felt the wrath of Cattle Mutilation. It's put away countless opponents, and you, Undertaker, will be no exception."
Taker: "Seventeen and 0. Everyone who has come before me has failed. People faster than you, people larger than you, everyone bows before the Undertaker. You can escape many things in life, but you cannot escape death. And at WrestleMania, you will...rest...in...peace...."
3/28/10 (WrestleMania 26): Let these two go. No limits. Take about 30-35 minutes. Have Danielson carry most of the match; he's younger and has way more moves in his arsenal than Taker. Every move will be exhausted, including a bunch of moves Danielson has not even needed to pull out in prior WWE matches. It will have an insane amount of high-impact offense (for a WWE match) and lead to countless near falls. Lots of slaps, chops, and punches mixed in.
End of the match: Taker sets Danielson up for the Tombstone, but it's countered into a DDT by Danielson, and then into Cattle Mutilation. Crowd going nuts. Taker looks like he's about to tap, but holds on. Taker makes one last-ditch effort to make it to the ropes and/or break the hold. Taker is agonizingly close to the ropes and struggles to reach them, but passes out.
The ref rings the bell...the NEW World Heavyweight Champion is Bryan Danielson!

Final Notes: This would obviously be the Shocker of the Year should it happen. But of course, it's WWE, so it's very unlikely to happen -- not at this WrestleMania, not at any WrestleMania.
Trust me, I am a big fan of the Streak. Personally, I do not want the Streak broken because it's become more than a statistic. It's gained its own cult following.
There will be no one who will ever get close to breaking it, not only because it requires longevity, but because the odds favor everyone losing at some point. The Undertaker's streak lives because it fits the character; a supernatural, unstoppable force on his playground never loses.
But think of what it would do for a person who DOES break the Streak. It would clearly be the biggest win of his career. Main eventers don't need the win; they're already established stars. And even though Bryan Danielson is about as big as it gets for an independent pro wrestler, he is still largely unknown to WWE fans. A debut like this would make no one forget Bryan Danielson. And because Danielson is not even 30 (will be 29 in May 2010), Danielson is young enough and telented enough to lead WWE for at least the next 10 years.
Look at the ages of people I consider main eventers:
RAW Brand:
Shawn Michaels is 44.
HHH is 40.
Big Show will be 38 by WM 26.
John Cena is 32.
Randy Orton is 30.
Smackdown Brand:
Undertaker will be 45 by WM 26.
Batista is 40.
Chris Jericho is 39.
Edge is 36.
Rey Mysterio is 35.
CM Punk is 31.
ECW Brand:
William Regal is 41.
Christian is 36.
We need to push younger stars. Punk was getting pushed, but now seems to be taking a back seat to do the Straight Edge Society gimmick.
Note there are fewer people on RAW who I consider main eventers. Why? The same people keep getting pushed and no one else gets elevated; the classic "glass ceiling." Orton and Cena are young and have been main eventers for a while now, but it's been the same thing on RAW for a long time. And even when HHH and HBK are doing DX stuff, they are still winning matches or failing to fully put others over because of politics.
And no, Sheamus is not a main eventer yet. He may have the WWE Title, but he has to prove that he can shine constantly in the main spotlight before I give him the nod.
People get tired of the same stuff all the time. It needs to be freshened up. Send either Orton or Cena to Smackdown and bring some Smackdown guys to RAW in the Draft. I also realize ECW's brand may be folding soon, so I want to bring the top guys from ECW to one of the two big brands. Here are some ideas:
(1) John Morrison to RAW
(2) John Cena to Smackdown
(3) Edge to RAW
(4) Bryan Danielson to Smackdown
(5) William Regal to Smackdown
(6) Christian to Smackdown
I have a feeling Undertaker is retiring soon. I wouldn't think Batista will last more than a few years, either. He's too injury-prone and maybe will have a couple more reigns before he retires for good.
And elevate Kofi Kingston on RAW. He's had tremendous talent, but his push was basically killed off.
New feuds have to be started, but that can't happen if the same people will be feuding all the time.
This took me about 5-6 hours to write. If you made it to the end after having actually read all that I typed, you are a crazy individual.

Fantasy Booking
Since John Canton has done some fantasy booking for the Jan. 4, 2010, RAW up until WM 26 (go here), I decided to do something similar. Please take into account that I have not completely factored in Bryan Danielson's debut on WWE programming yet (although I tried). So here we go:
Sheamus vs. John Cena happens tonight for the WWE Title. While Cena vowed to win until he got his WWE Title back, I see this scenario: Sheamus will get pissed after being unable to put Cena away clean. Sheamus will then likely DQ himself (inadvertent or not). Thus, he loses the match (Cena wins), but Sheamus retains the title. This sets up a return match at the Royal Rumble (see below).
Bret Hart guest hosts the January 4 RAW with the week's worth of hype. And I would hype it as much as possible. Hype it huge on ECW, Superstars, and Smackdown, as well as reserve commercials and teases throughout the week for it.
On January 4 RAW:
(1) Show animosity between Bret and Vince and/or Bret and HBK. Plant seeds for a possible Mania match, either between Bret/Vince or Bret in a six-man tag with Hart Dynasty versus three others. John suggested both scenarios, and I agree either way.
(2) I also like John's idea about Orton/Kingston on 1/4/10 RAW, with the winner being #30 in the Rumble and the loser #1. John suggested Kingston should win and be #30. However, I prefer Orton to win and be #30 after a very solid match (about ***1/2 or so on my rating scale). Then Orton will gloat about how this will be the year that he takes down Kofi for good.
(3) I love the proposed MVP heel turn to side with Big Show. Elevates MVP and Jericho is free to do what he wants (see below).
(4) Finally, I like John's idea of having Hart Dynasty win the Unified Tag Titles from DX on RAW. Good stuff, and I wouldn't be surprised if it again hits about *** to ***1/2.
Buildup to Royal Rumble on 1/31/10:
(1) It's three more RAWs until the Rumble. Kingston and Orton will continue to feud through tag matches against one another or backstage skits, but it will never be one-on-one.
(2) Bret and Vince continue to get TV time. I like John's idea of using Vince to keep Bret on TV to try and get back at Bret.
(3) WWE Title picture: Sheamus challenges Cena for the title again at the Rumble. I like John's Street Fight idea.
(4) World Title picture: Batista gets another crack at Taker's title.
(5) Unified Tag Title picture: Hart Dynasty faces DX again, likely as ordered by Vince.
Royal Rumble:
(1) WWE Title: Sheamus wins again in a "brutal" match (while of course somehow keeping it PG). Nothing super dirty, and each man uses all his signature moves. The end comes at about the 20-minute mark, when Sheamus counters Cena's Attitude Adjustment and hits his Razor's Edge-like move on a table set up in the ring (maybe set up in the corner). It would remind the announcers and the fans of the TLC buildup when Sheamus won the title in the first place. Hopefully the match would get ***1/2 or better from me.
(2) World Title: Batista wins the title after 15 minutes or so. None of this "chairs match" crap. Let them loose and get at least ***. The end should be clean, and Batista should hit the Batista Bomb for the win. The reason? So Batista can gloat on Smackdown that not even Teddy Long could overturn and restart that match (remember TLC, when Long ordered the match restarted after Batista had low-blowed Taker, leading to the supposed Batista win).
(3) Unified Tag Titles: Hart Dynasty wins after about 15 minutes, and Vince is pissed.
(4) Royal Rumble: It would be Kingston, Morrison, HHH, Drew McIntyre (gotta elevate him as well), and probably Punk left in the match. Orton then comes out at #30. Orton goes right after Kingston and spends all that time trying to eliminate Kofi. In the meantime, McIntyre eliminates Punk. Morrison knocks out McIntyre with a Flying Chuck, sending McIntyre through the ropes (but not over the top, so he's not eliminated). Morrison then works on HHH and eliminates HHH with some nice sequences. Orton RKOs Kingston. Morrison is all tired after his sequence with HHH. Orton punts Morrison and throws Morrison's limp body over the top. McIntyre charges Orton from behind to eliminate him, but in the process eliminates himself (so McIntyre is finally gone). Down to Orton and Kingston again. Orton looks like he is about to eliminate Kofi but Kofi holds on as Orton prematurely celebrates. Kingston springboards onto Orton back into the ring and the two go at it for about 5-7 minutes, doing whatever they can to electrify the crowd. Orton gets the better of the situation and throws Kingston over. Kingston holds onto the ropes, skins the cat, gets Orton in a head scissors, and pulls Orton over the top, eliminating him. Kingston wins the 2010 Royal Rumble as he skins the cat again back into the ring and celebrates as one of the few to enter #1 and win the Rumble. Orton looks pissed, and Kofi continues to gloat as the show goes off air.
Road to WrestleMania 26:
(1) WWE Title picture: Orton starts the RAW right after the Rumble and again complains about Kingston screwing him over. Kingston comes out and talks trash to Orton, pretty much saying Kingston comes out on top again. Cena comes to congratulate Sheamus and again puts Sheamus over as a legit threat. However, Cena wants one more chance at No Way Out (or whatever the PPV will be called). Crowd gives its mixed reaction because people love or hate Cena. Sheamus doesn't want any more of Cena, claiming he's already beaten him three times. The 2/1/10 guest host doesn't care, and says the WWE Title will be contested inside the Elimination Chamber. Sheamus will defend against Cena, Orton, Kingston, Miz, and HHH. I put Miz in there to elevate him.
Kingston, being the face, stays out of it, knowing he'll get a title shot at Mania even if he loses the Chamber match. Orton still cries foul and demands a title shot right now (as in the RAW after the Rumble). A guest host (at any point leading up to NWO) can grant Orton his wish (probably through duress). Orton loses the match against Sheamus for the title when Kingston somehow distracts Orton, leading to a Sheamus rollup for the win. This keeps the feud between Orton and Kingston going.
At NWO, Kingston and Miz start in the chamber, with Miz holding his own. HHH enters next, and this is where Miz gets knocked out, eating a HHH Pedigree. Sheamus enters. HHH goes out next via Sheamus' Irish Curse (or Razor's Edge-like finisher). Cena and Orton enter the match. Sheamus eliminates Kingston with another Irish Curse. Cena hits an Attitude Adjustment on Sheamus, but Orton punts Cena in the head to get three on Cena. Orton then covers a fallen Sheamus for three to win the WWE Title at about 28 minutes. However, remember, Kingston still has his WWE Title shot at Mania, so it'll be Orton vs. Kingston for the title.
Hopefully a big-time star like The Rock will guest host one of the RAWs in late February or early March. If Rock guest hosts, Cena can come out to challenge Rock (just like John Canton suggested). I would love Sheamus facing HHH based off of my Chamber scenario. If no Rock/Cena, then Sheamus/HHH/Cena could be an option.
(2) World Title picture: Batista has the belt until Mania. At NWO, another Elimination Chamber match takes place between Batista, Taker, Mysterio, John Morrison, Drew McIntyre, & CM Punk. Punk and Morrison start. McIntyre enters next, followed by Mysterio. Taker enters fifth, and Batista last. McIntyre takes out Mysterio with his Scot Drop. Morrison takes out McIntyre with Starship Pain. Morrison then takes Punk out with the Flying Chuck. We are down to Morrison, Taker, and Batista.
Taker and Morrison gang up on Batista, then do a sick spot by having Taker throw Batista through a plexiglass chamber. Crowd does the "Holy Shit!" chants as Taker and Morrison square off (it's good for PPV; it's too logical to have Morrison vs. Batista a.k.a. the face vs. the heel). Remember, this is for the World Title, so who cares about face vs. heel in an elimination match?
Good back-and-forth stuff for about 7-8 minutes. Batista may intervene once but would get chokeslammed by Taker. Morrison dazzles with more moves. He goes to the top of a chamber like RVD or Jeff Hardy would, but misses a splash (or some acrobatic move). Batista still groggy on the outside. Taker gets up and Tombstones Morrison for three. Animal and Deadman are alone again. Taker continues to beat down on Batista, but Batista counters at some point. Batista would hit the Batista Bomb on Taker, but be too tired to cover immediately. When going for the cover, Batista would position his body just right for Taker to lock in Hell's Gate. Batista looks like he will tap, but instead shows amazing strength by picking Taker up into a version of the Batista Bomb, breaking the hold. Taker is slow to get up, and Batista is also struggling to get up, Taker and Batista turn around about the same time to face one another, and Batista spears Taker in the middle of the ring for the three. Batista retains at about 30-32 minutes.
On Smackdown, Teddy Long congratulates Batista on retaining his title, and Batista proved to Long that Batista can beat Undertaker. Batista interjects and threatens Long that he'll kick Long's ass if Batista has to face Taker again. Long says that he's already agreed to having Taker face HBK at Mania, so Batista would not face Taker. Batista is happy with that. But, Long then says that Batista will be defending his World Title against another worthy opponent, one who has been impressing on Smackdown for about a year. John Morrison enters to his music and the fans go nuts. Morrison will bring up how he's been IC champ, been one of the last superstars in the Rumble, and also eliminating two people in the Chamber at NWO.
Enter Drew McIntyre (who will still be IC champ at this point). Drew points out that he lasted longer than Morrison at the Rumble and that Morrison got lucky at NWO. Long makes a non-title match between Morrison and McIntyre on Smackdown to determine who faces Batista at WM26. Morrison and McIntyre have a 15-20 minute match with Morrison winning. McIntyre faces someone else for the title. Would it be Danielson? I dunno. To me, Danielson has an equal chance of facing Miz for the U.S. Title on RAW.
(3) Unified Tag Team Titles: Hart Dynasty keep the belts through Mania, with Uncle Bret going to Smackdown at one point. Hart Dynasty tell Teddy Long that Uncle Bret is to be a "consultant" or "mentor" to the Harts. Long does not agree at first, but eventually says he has great respect for Bret, so he grants the wish. This is how Bret gets to be on both RAW and Smackdown, even without Vince interjecting. This way, Bret becomes part of the Hart Dynasty stable, making the name (Hart Dynasty) that much truer.
Hart Dynasty would be featured on each RAW and Smackdown, either in a match or a backstage skit (or both). On RAW, Harts would face Legacy a couple of times and win each time. This sets the seeds for a Ted DiBiase face turn, as Cody Rhodes gets fed up with losing and turns on Ted. Harts could face DX, but that is unlikely if HHH is to go for the WWE Title and HBK to feud with Taker. On Smackdown, Harts can face Cryme Tyme, Slam Master J/Jimmy Wang Yang, and even jobber teams. Eventually, Big Show will come into the mix with MVP and keep attacking the Harts. Do this every week or so until Big Show gets his wish for a tag title shot.
WrestleMania 26:
(1) MITB Ladder Match between Christian, CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, The Miz, Drew McIntyre, & Shelton Benjamin. Christian wins.
(2) Divas match of some sort. Maybe Maryse vs. Gail Kim, or Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix. I probably wouldn't have more than one Divas match on the card, so the latter looks like the best bet.
(3) Hart Dynasty vs. Big Show and MVP for the Unified Tag Titles. Big Show and MVP win.
(4) Edge vs. Chris Jericho. Edge's rehab is going well, so vignettes highlighting Edge's return could air in February. Then Edge, if healthy in time, will return in March to confront Jericho on Smackdown. Both men are talented enough on the mic to do jaw-jacking back and forth until Mania. Edge wins, should this match happen. If this match does not happen, look for Jericho to try and reunite with Big Show to get the tag titles back.
(5) John Morrison defeats Batista for the World Heavyweight Title after 15-17 minutes.
(6) This is iffy, but Bret Hart defeats Vince McMahon in an exhibition match.
(7) Sheamus defeats HHH (and John Cena?) Could be a one-on-one match, or a triple threat.
(8) Kofi Kingston defeats Randy Orton for the WWE Title.
(9) John Cena defeats The Rock. If this match happens, it'll be a miracle, but it would be incredible to see the fan response. Cena will be getting booed a lot, that's for sure. I'm still waiting for the Cena heel turn. Maybe later this year?
(10) The Undertaker defeats Shawn Michaels to go 18-0 at WM. The Streak is NOT ending. HBK may gain a win at any other PPV, but not at Mania. I would put this match last, no matter what. The match may not gain five stars from me like it did at WM 25, but it will be close.

Bret Hart guest hosts the January 4 RAW with the week's worth of hype. And I would hype it as much as possible. Hype it huge on ECW, Superstars, and Smackdown, as well as reserve commercials and teases throughout the week for it.
On January 4 RAW:
(1) Show animosity between Bret and Vince and/or Bret and HBK. Plant seeds for a possible Mania match, either between Bret/Vince or Bret in a six-man tag with Hart Dynasty versus three others. John suggested both scenarios, and I agree either way.
(2) I also like John's idea about Orton/Kingston on 1/4/10 RAW, with the winner being #30 in the Rumble and the loser #1. John suggested Kingston should win and be #30. However, I prefer Orton to win and be #30 after a very solid match (about ***1/2 or so on my rating scale). Then Orton will gloat about how this will be the year that he takes down Kofi for good.
(3) I love the proposed MVP heel turn to side with Big Show. Elevates MVP and Jericho is free to do what he wants (see below).
(4) Finally, I like John's idea of having Hart Dynasty win the Unified Tag Titles from DX on RAW. Good stuff, and I wouldn't be surprised if it again hits about *** to ***1/2.
Buildup to Royal Rumble on 1/31/10:
(1) It's three more RAWs until the Rumble. Kingston and Orton will continue to feud through tag matches against one another or backstage skits, but it will never be one-on-one.
(2) Bret and Vince continue to get TV time. I like John's idea of using Vince to keep Bret on TV to try and get back at Bret.
(3) WWE Title picture: Sheamus challenges Cena for the title again at the Rumble. I like John's Street Fight idea.
(4) World Title picture: Batista gets another crack at Taker's title.
(5) Unified Tag Title picture: Hart Dynasty faces DX again, likely as ordered by Vince.
Royal Rumble:
(1) WWE Title: Sheamus wins again in a "brutal" match (while of course somehow keeping it PG). Nothing super dirty, and each man uses all his signature moves. The end comes at about the 20-minute mark, when Sheamus counters Cena's Attitude Adjustment and hits his Razor's Edge-like move on a table set up in the ring (maybe set up in the corner). It would remind the announcers and the fans of the TLC buildup when Sheamus won the title in the first place. Hopefully the match would get ***1/2 or better from me.
(2) World Title: Batista wins the title after 15 minutes or so. None of this "chairs match" crap. Let them loose and get at least ***. The end should be clean, and Batista should hit the Batista Bomb for the win. The reason? So Batista can gloat on Smackdown that not even Teddy Long could overturn and restart that match (remember TLC, when Long ordered the match restarted after Batista had low-blowed Taker, leading to the supposed Batista win).
(3) Unified Tag Titles: Hart Dynasty wins after about 15 minutes, and Vince is pissed.
(4) Royal Rumble: It would be Kingston, Morrison, HHH, Drew McIntyre (gotta elevate him as well), and probably Punk left in the match. Orton then comes out at #30. Orton goes right after Kingston and spends all that time trying to eliminate Kofi. In the meantime, McIntyre eliminates Punk. Morrison knocks out McIntyre with a Flying Chuck, sending McIntyre through the ropes (but not over the top, so he's not eliminated). Morrison then works on HHH and eliminates HHH with some nice sequences. Orton RKOs Kingston. Morrison is all tired after his sequence with HHH. Orton punts Morrison and throws Morrison's limp body over the top. McIntyre charges Orton from behind to eliminate him, but in the process eliminates himself (so McIntyre is finally gone). Down to Orton and Kingston again. Orton looks like he is about to eliminate Kofi but Kofi holds on as Orton prematurely celebrates. Kingston springboards onto Orton back into the ring and the two go at it for about 5-7 minutes, doing whatever they can to electrify the crowd. Orton gets the better of the situation and throws Kingston over. Kingston holds onto the ropes, skins the cat, gets Orton in a head scissors, and pulls Orton over the top, eliminating him. Kingston wins the 2010 Royal Rumble as he skins the cat again back into the ring and celebrates as one of the few to enter #1 and win the Rumble. Orton looks pissed, and Kofi continues to gloat as the show goes off air.
Road to WrestleMania 26:
(1) WWE Title picture: Orton starts the RAW right after the Rumble and again complains about Kingston screwing him over. Kingston comes out and talks trash to Orton, pretty much saying Kingston comes out on top again. Cena comes to congratulate Sheamus and again puts Sheamus over as a legit threat. However, Cena wants one more chance at No Way Out (or whatever the PPV will be called). Crowd gives its mixed reaction because people love or hate Cena. Sheamus doesn't want any more of Cena, claiming he's already beaten him three times. The 2/1/10 guest host doesn't care, and says the WWE Title will be contested inside the Elimination Chamber. Sheamus will defend against Cena, Orton, Kingston, Miz, and HHH. I put Miz in there to elevate him.
Kingston, being the face, stays out of it, knowing he'll get a title shot at Mania even if he loses the Chamber match. Orton still cries foul and demands a title shot right now (as in the RAW after the Rumble). A guest host (at any point leading up to NWO) can grant Orton his wish (probably through duress). Orton loses the match against Sheamus for the title when Kingston somehow distracts Orton, leading to a Sheamus rollup for the win. This keeps the feud between Orton and Kingston going.
At NWO, Kingston and Miz start in the chamber, with Miz holding his own. HHH enters next, and this is where Miz gets knocked out, eating a HHH Pedigree. Sheamus enters. HHH goes out next via Sheamus' Irish Curse (or Razor's Edge-like finisher). Cena and Orton enter the match. Sheamus eliminates Kingston with another Irish Curse. Cena hits an Attitude Adjustment on Sheamus, but Orton punts Cena in the head to get three on Cena. Orton then covers a fallen Sheamus for three to win the WWE Title at about 28 minutes. However, remember, Kingston still has his WWE Title shot at Mania, so it'll be Orton vs. Kingston for the title.
Hopefully a big-time star like The Rock will guest host one of the RAWs in late February or early March. If Rock guest hosts, Cena can come out to challenge Rock (just like John Canton suggested). I would love Sheamus facing HHH based off of my Chamber scenario. If no Rock/Cena, then Sheamus/HHH/Cena could be an option.
(2) World Title picture: Batista has the belt until Mania. At NWO, another Elimination Chamber match takes place between Batista, Taker, Mysterio, John Morrison, Drew McIntyre, & CM Punk. Punk and Morrison start. McIntyre enters next, followed by Mysterio. Taker enters fifth, and Batista last. McIntyre takes out Mysterio with his Scot Drop. Morrison takes out McIntyre with Starship Pain. Morrison then takes Punk out with the Flying Chuck. We are down to Morrison, Taker, and Batista.
Taker and Morrison gang up on Batista, then do a sick spot by having Taker throw Batista through a plexiglass chamber. Crowd does the "Holy Shit!" chants as Taker and Morrison square off (it's good for PPV; it's too logical to have Morrison vs. Batista a.k.a. the face vs. the heel). Remember, this is for the World Title, so who cares about face vs. heel in an elimination match?
Good back-and-forth stuff for about 7-8 minutes. Batista may intervene once but would get chokeslammed by Taker. Morrison dazzles with more moves. He goes to the top of a chamber like RVD or Jeff Hardy would, but misses a splash (or some acrobatic move). Batista still groggy on the outside. Taker gets up and Tombstones Morrison for three. Animal and Deadman are alone again. Taker continues to beat down on Batista, but Batista counters at some point. Batista would hit the Batista Bomb on Taker, but be too tired to cover immediately. When going for the cover, Batista would position his body just right for Taker to lock in Hell's Gate. Batista looks like he will tap, but instead shows amazing strength by picking Taker up into a version of the Batista Bomb, breaking the hold. Taker is slow to get up, and Batista is also struggling to get up, Taker and Batista turn around about the same time to face one another, and Batista spears Taker in the middle of the ring for the three. Batista retains at about 30-32 minutes.
On Smackdown, Teddy Long congratulates Batista on retaining his title, and Batista proved to Long that Batista can beat Undertaker. Batista interjects and threatens Long that he'll kick Long's ass if Batista has to face Taker again. Long says that he's already agreed to having Taker face HBK at Mania, so Batista would not face Taker. Batista is happy with that. But, Long then says that Batista will be defending his World Title against another worthy opponent, one who has been impressing on Smackdown for about a year. John Morrison enters to his music and the fans go nuts. Morrison will bring up how he's been IC champ, been one of the last superstars in the Rumble, and also eliminating two people in the Chamber at NWO.
Enter Drew McIntyre (who will still be IC champ at this point). Drew points out that he lasted longer than Morrison at the Rumble and that Morrison got lucky at NWO. Long makes a non-title match between Morrison and McIntyre on Smackdown to determine who faces Batista at WM26. Morrison and McIntyre have a 15-20 minute match with Morrison winning. McIntyre faces someone else for the title. Would it be Danielson? I dunno. To me, Danielson has an equal chance of facing Miz for the U.S. Title on RAW.
(3) Unified Tag Team Titles: Hart Dynasty keep the belts through Mania, with Uncle Bret going to Smackdown at one point. Hart Dynasty tell Teddy Long that Uncle Bret is to be a "consultant" or "mentor" to the Harts. Long does not agree at first, but eventually says he has great respect for Bret, so he grants the wish. This is how Bret gets to be on both RAW and Smackdown, even without Vince interjecting. This way, Bret becomes part of the Hart Dynasty stable, making the name (Hart Dynasty) that much truer.
Hart Dynasty would be featured on each RAW and Smackdown, either in a match or a backstage skit (or both). On RAW, Harts would face Legacy a couple of times and win each time. This sets the seeds for a Ted DiBiase face turn, as Cody Rhodes gets fed up with losing and turns on Ted. Harts could face DX, but that is unlikely if HHH is to go for the WWE Title and HBK to feud with Taker. On Smackdown, Harts can face Cryme Tyme, Slam Master J/Jimmy Wang Yang, and even jobber teams. Eventually, Big Show will come into the mix with MVP and keep attacking the Harts. Do this every week or so until Big Show gets his wish for a tag title shot.
WrestleMania 26:
(1) MITB Ladder Match between Christian, CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, The Miz, Drew McIntyre, & Shelton Benjamin. Christian wins.
(2) Divas match of some sort. Maybe Maryse vs. Gail Kim, or Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix. I probably wouldn't have more than one Divas match on the card, so the latter looks like the best bet.
(3) Hart Dynasty vs. Big Show and MVP for the Unified Tag Titles. Big Show and MVP win.
(4) Edge vs. Chris Jericho. Edge's rehab is going well, so vignettes highlighting Edge's return could air in February. Then Edge, if healthy in time, will return in March to confront Jericho on Smackdown. Both men are talented enough on the mic to do jaw-jacking back and forth until Mania. Edge wins, should this match happen. If this match does not happen, look for Jericho to try and reunite with Big Show to get the tag titles back.
(5) John Morrison defeats Batista for the World Heavyweight Title after 15-17 minutes.
(6) This is iffy, but Bret Hart defeats Vince McMahon in an exhibition match.
(7) Sheamus defeats HHH (and John Cena?) Could be a one-on-one match, or a triple threat.
(8) Kofi Kingston defeats Randy Orton for the WWE Title.
(9) John Cena defeats The Rock. If this match happens, it'll be a miracle, but it would be incredible to see the fan response. Cena will be getting booed a lot, that's for sure. I'm still waiting for the Cena heel turn. Maybe later this year?
(10) The Undertaker defeats Shawn Michaels to go 18-0 at WM. The Streak is NOT ending. HBK may gain a win at any other PPV, but not at Mania. I would put this match last, no matter what. The match may not gain five stars from me like it did at WM 25, but it will be close.
